Time goes by quickly, and Jeremy Lin is turning 28, almost out of nowhere. To celebrate the occasion, and maybe to do a little more hyping up before he begins the next chapter of his career on the Brooklyn Nets, we thought sharing some of his finer career moments caught on tape is appropriate.
There is only one clip here from his Charlotte Hornets season. Why? Well, birthdays are an opportunity to reminisce and some distant past events, or in this case, stuff that happened while he was playing for the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers. Distant past in this case is four to two years ago, more or less.
Lin hitting the game winner vs the Toronto Raptors (February 14, 2012)
The most viewed “pure basketball” clip of Jeremy Lin on Youtube, a 27-point performance on the road vs the Raptors is finished beautifully with a 3-point winner, as Lin takes Jose Calderon one on one and wins.
Lin vs Bryant, Phantom Camera (February 10, 2012)
A few days before the game winner against the Raptors, Lin dropped 38 points on Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. There are a lot of clips from that game, but this Phantom-cam version is my personal favorite.
Too Flagrant Not to Foul (April 5, 2016)
Not exactly a highlight clip, or not good highlights. This fan-made video caused a lot of noise last season, pretty much exposing the NBA, officials and some of the league’s players, for the headhunting tactics Lin has to deal with on a nightly basis.
The beginning, vs the Brooklyn Nets (February 4, 2012)
Linsanity began here. Lin came off the bench to score 25 points and lead a desperate Knicks team to victory. Up to this point in the season, Lin was averaging 6 minutes per game, with just one game of over 7 minutes. Everything changed from this moment.
Lin ignoring Kobe Bryant, knocked down a three (October 31, 2014)
A nice little moment for Lin in a rough season. This game against the Los Angeles Clippers ended in a loss. Lin had a good game, with 17 points and 9 assists, including this 3-pointer, with Bryant begging for the ball, but Lin feeling it, and draining it with confidence.
Trivia time: How many times has Lin scored 28 points in a regular season game? Answer at the bottom…
Lin drops 29 on the Spurs (March 21, 2016)
One of those examples of how good Lin can be when he’s in the right role, playing the right amount of minutes, no matter the opponent. Lin led the Hornets to a massive comeback against San Antonio, scoring 29 points in 31 minutes, including 4 three pointers.
Jeremy Lin show vs the Thunder (February 20, 2013)
One of Lin’s best games in Rockets uniform if not the best, he finished with 29 points and 7 assists on 12-for-22 shooting in a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Poster Dunk from Jeremy Lin (February 10, 2013)
Lin isn’t famous for his dunks, but he had a pretty nice win in a loss to the Sacramento Kings. Maybe the more impressive thing in this play is his block on Aaron Brooks to kick off the fast break.
Jeremy Lin torches the Hornets (November 9, 2014)
Before joining the Charlotte Hornets, Lin did pretty well against them wearing Lakers uniform (44 points in two games). He scored 21 points with 7 assists in a 15-point win, while Kobe Bryant shot 35% from the field to try and steal the show himself.
Jeremy Lin triple double (February 1, 2014)
15 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, all in 29 minutes, while coming off the bench. His time with the Houston Rockets was frustrating quite often, but there were plenty of good moments too.
Answer? Three. He scored 28 points twice (vs Jazz & Mavs) in the 2012 Linsanity run, and again in 2012-2013 with the Houston Rockets, in their famous 3-point shooting barrage against the Mark Jackson Golden State Warriors, with the Dubs coach at the time ordering his players to foul Rockets players with malice so they don’t break the 3-point record on their heads.
