Michigan State beat Oregon

While the main contenders for the college football playoff (Ohio State, Alabama and TCU) cruised to victories against unimportant rivals, Michigan State knocked off a huge one by beating Oregon, Oklahoma broke the hearts of Tennessee fans again, Auburn nearly lost at home to an FCS team and Arkansas suffered an embarrassing home loss against Toledo to end the talk of them being a threat in the SEC.

Hawai’i (1-1) 0  #1 Ohio State (2-0) 38: A strong fourth quarter finish from the Buckeyes made this game seem a bit more one-sided than it really was, but it’s still a shutout behind a 101-yards rushing performance from Ezekiel Elliott and three touchdown runs.

Middle Tennessee 10  #2 Alabama (2-0) 37: Another so-so day for Jake Coker, another great day for Derrick Henry with three touchdown runs.

Stephen F Austin (0-2) 7  #3 TCU (2-0) 70: Trevone Boykin threw four touchdown passes in a win that once again says nothing about how good TCU are or aren’t.

Lamar 31  #4 Baylor (2-0) 66: The unimpressive schedule of Baylor continues, this time with an easy win over an FCS team.

#7 Oregon (1-1) 28  #5 Michigan State (2-0) 31: Vernon Adams had a bad day with two interceptions (and one touchdown pass) as the Spartans held Oregon to just 123 rushing yards, usually the key to upset the Ducks in a revenge game from last season, placing MSU as legitimate playoff contenders.

Jacksonville State (1-1) 20  #6 Auburn (2-0) 27: A win that’s going to drop Auburn in the rankings, needing a last minute touchdown catch by Melvin Ray to send the game into overtime, and win with a Peyton Barber rushing touchdown to beat the FCS school.

Idaho (0-2) 9  #8 USC (2-0) 59: Not sure what’s there to learn about the two teams from this game. Cody Kessler was almost flawless with three touchdown passes and only five incompletions.

#9 Notre Dame (2-0) 34  Virginia (0-2) 27: A huge hit for the Irish as quarterback Malik Zaire is now out for the season. DeShone Kizer did a good job instead with two touchdown throws while C.J. Prosise ran for 155 yards and a score. Kizer threw the game winning touchdown after the Cavaliers already took a 27-26 lead, finding Will Fuller for the score with 12 seconds left in the game.

#10 Georgia (2-0) 31  Vanderbilt (0-2) 14: Nick Chubb rushed for 189 yards and Georgia scored through an interception and a pass return in their first conference win of the season.

South Florida (1-1) 14  #11 Florida State (2-0) 34: A big running day for Dalvin Cook with 266 yards while Everett Golson threw for 163 yards and a touchdown, with a nice fourth quarter close-out from the Seminoles who felt a bit of pressure from the Bulls.

Appalachian State (1-1) 10  #12 Clemson (2-0) 41: A strong day for Deshaun Watson at quarterback with three touchdown passes for 248 yards, as the Tigers led by 38 points before giving the Mountaineers some breathing room.

#13 UCLA (2-0) 37  UNLV (0-2) 3: Paul Perkins with 154 rushing yards and two touchdowns did most of the offensive work for the Bruins, while the quarterbacks combined to throw three interceptions and complete less than 50% of their passes.

#14 LSU (1-0) 21  #25 Mississippi State (1-1) 19: The Tigers ran the ball and then ran it some more, mostly with Leonard Fournette, rushing for 159 yards and three touchdowns in a delayed season opener for LSU, avenging their home loss against Dak Prescott and his guys from last season.

Tulane (0-2) 10  #15 Georgia Tech (2-0) 65: An impressive power running display by the Yellow Jackets with 439 rushing yards while quarterback Justin Thomas threw a couple of touchdown passes and ran for another one.

Ball State 23 (1-1)  #16 Texas A&M (2-0) 56: Kyler Murray and Kyle Allen both play for now, both throwing touchdowns as well in another comfortable home win for the Aggies, this time not very surprising.

Fresno State (1-1) 21  #17 Ole Miss (2-0) 73: Chad Kelly threw four touchdown passes, and Ole Miss now have 148 points over the first two weeks of the season.

Toledo (1-0) 16  #18 Arkansas (1-1) 12: The big upset of the week as Toledo held the Razorbacks to just 101 yards on the ground, with Branden Allen throwing an interception. Arkansas scored just three times on five red zone trips.

#19 Oklahoma (2-0) 31  #23 Tennessee (1-1) 24: The funnest game of the weekend, with the Sooners coming back from 17 points down to force overtime, and winning on a Baker Mayfield pass to Sterling Shepard in a double overtime win.

#20 Boise State (1-1) 24  BYU (2-0) 35: Surely BYU will be ranked after the polls come out with an impressive home win in a mistake filled game (five interceptions all around), as Tanner Mangum did a decent job of stepping up as starting quarterback with two touchdown passes and two interceptions.

#21 Missouri (2-0) 27  Arkansas State (0-2) 20: An ugly win for the Tigers with another terrible game for Maty Mauk (three touchdowns and two interceptions), coming from behind while holding the Red Wolves to just 3 points in the second half.

#22 Arizona (2-0) 44  Nevada (1-1) 20: The Wolfpack run the ball, nothing else. Arizona have Anu Solomon (two touchdowns, 264 yards) and a nice running game from Nick Wilson with 194 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Utah State (1-1) 14  #24 Utah 24 (2-0): A costly win for the Utes who are now 2-0 after quarterback Travis Wilson went down with an injury, which means more pressure on Devontae Booker (120 yards) and backup Kendal Thompson.
