After going old-school with Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson for their NBA 2K12 cover, 2K Sports have gone younger, with the future of the NBA instead of its past, using Derrick Rose, Blake Griffin and Kevin Durant for their NBA 2K13 cover.
Michael Jordan was also the cover athlete for the 2010 version of the game, preceded by Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Chris Paul, Shaquille O’Neal (x2), Ben Wallace and Allen Iverson (x5). These last two years the company has decided that going with a combination of cover boys was the right way to go.
While Jordan, Magic and Bird are all former NBA Champions, NBA MVPs and Finals’ MVPs, the link between Durant, Griffin and Rose, besides the fact that they’re all yet to see 24 full years on this planet is their Rookie of the year awards. Durant is the only one of them to make the NBA finals, while Derrick Rose is the only one of the three to win the MVP award.
NBA 2K13 will be available Oct. 2 in North America and Oct. 5 internationally, availiable on the PlayStation 3, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360,PlayStation 2 and the PC.
