Rafael Nadal needed to get the intimidation factor back. He needed his confidence back. And he needed clay surfaces to soften the blows on his troubelsome knees. Two weeks after the beginning of clay season, the World number 2, with two consecutive titles in the bag, is looking like the man to beat once again. More
Rafael Nadal might be the king of clay, but his knee seems to be causing him more problems than ever. Roger Federer has been playing better than anyone for most of 2012 up until now, but he hasn’t won a clay title since May 2012. Novak Djokovic? He won in Miami recently and beat Nadal in two Clay finals last season. Advantage Novak. More
Andy Roddick did beat Roger Federer earlier this month in the Madison Square Garden exhibition, but that wasn’t suppose to reflect on big tournaments, on actually important ATP Tour Masters events. Well, it happened. For only the third time in his 24 matches with Roger, Roddick came out on top, winning 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 in the third round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne. More
Roger Federer has been hearing the talks, the criticism, the calls for retirement. They’ve been going on for three years now, more or less. The voices grow stronger after a disappointing finish to a Grand Slam tournament, like in 2010, when he couldn’t make it past the quarter finals at the Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Those voices dissappear when he wins the Indian Wells, his third tournament in 2012. More
Roger Federer talked earlier this year about his desire, and belief, regarding a return to the number one spot in the World. After winning the 2012 Indian Wells Masters, his third consecutive title this season, he’s still at number 3, but it’s getting easier to believe that he’s bound to win at least one Grand Slam title before the end of the year. More
Roger Federer isn’t the favorite to win at Indian Wells. Right now, any tournament Novak Djokovic signs up for puts him at the top of the list, but Federer is coming in with two consecutive titles in the bag, winning at Rotterdam and later in Dubai. Obviously, he and plenty of others see him as the favorite to win the first Masters tournament of the season. More
Roger Federer has always been somewhat of a bane on Andy Roddick’s career. They’ve met in four grand slam finals, with Federer winning all of them. Roddick has only beaten him twice in 23 matches. Last night, at the Madison Square Garden, he got a rare win, beating Federer 7-5, 7-6 (7) but alas, it was only an Exhibition match. More
Roger Federer won his second tournament of 2012, beating Andy Murray (7-5, 6-4) in straight sets to claim his fifth Dubai title and 72nd in his career, making it 10 consecutive wins for him and heading in to the more intensive ATP 1000 Masters months a bit more optimistic about his ability to win a Grand Slam after a long drought. More
Roger Federer won his first ATP tournament of 2012 and his first since the London ATP World Tour Finals by beating Juan Martin Del Porto 6-4, 6-1 at the Rotterdam Open (ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament), making it his 71st single’s title and a nice way to re-start the season after his disappointing Davis cup performance against the United States.
