Miami Marlins – Worst Season in Over a Decade
New ballpark, Marlins Park, didn’t help. Signing free agents worth more than $200 million didn’t help. Bringing in Ozzie Guillen to be the manager certainly did no good. Nothing seemed to work for the ambitious project that was supposed to make the Miami Marlins into a force to be reckoned with.

Champions League – Game Day 4 Predictions
The group of death in the 2012-2013 champions league goes into the second round of play, as a stuttering Manchester City host a struggling (in Germany) Borussia Dortmund side, while Real Madrid travel to Amsterdam, facing Ajax but thinking about Barcelona. Arsenal will try and put the Chelsea defeat behind them when hosting Olympiacos.

Manchester United – Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney Meant for Greatness
The defense? Could be better. The midfield? Nothing new about the problems there, each unit offering a different one. The attack? Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney started together for the first time, and made up for all those problems with some fantastic link up playing, including the second goal, bringing in much hope and promise for the rest of the season.

Chelsea FC – Getting Frank Lampard Back in Business
It wasn’t really a question of who plays for Chelsea against Nordsjælland, a club that’s probably a bit out of its league in their first Champions League campaign, so putting Frank Lampard in the lineup, despite his poor form to start the season, made sense and paid off for Roberto Di Matteo in the harder-than-the-scoreline-suggests 4-0 win.

FC Barcelona – Lionel Messi Can’t Play Central Defender
Sometimes, it seems that Barcelona build their team each summer thinking – We’ve got Lionel Messi, the best player in the world; we’ve got Xavi and Iniesta, the best midfielders in the world. The rest will work itself out. And then, you find yourself heading into the Clasico, to play against Real Madrid, without a natural centre back.

Neymar Performing the Gangnam Style Dance
Gangnam Style is everywhere, be it the music blasting everywhere you turn or someone preforming the dance as a spoof or for real. Athletes? Catching up slowly, but Neymar giving a few seconds of his dancing skills in the Santos locker room is certainly the best we’ve had so far.

Los Angeles Lakers – Still the Kobe Bryant Team
The player getting the most attention on the Los Angeles Lakes media day? Dwight Howard, being the new big name in town, although no one’s quite sure when he’s really going to play. Kobe Bryant, who doesn’t like getting all of the attention suddenly shifting away from him, made sure everyone knew who was the real alpha male on this team.

Rafael Nadal – Hoping For Australian Open Return
If anyone was hoping to see Rafael Nadal back on the courts before the end of 2012, you’ll be disappointed. The good news, sort of, for any Nadal fan and generally tennis lovers, is that the Spaniard is setting his sights on the 2013 Australian Open as his big comeback on the ATP Tour.

Manchester United – Alex Ferguson Against Foreign Divers
What is bothering Alex Ferguson these days? Two things mostly – Manchester United being quite terrible on defense and clearing English football of diving, as long as they’re not on his team. Sergio Aguero for example, but not Nani, who has every right to dive to get a penalty for the red devils.
