Eric LeGrand Becomes a Tampa Bay Buccaneers Player
Eric LeGrand broke two vertebrae and suffered severe spinal cord injury while trying to tackle Malcolm Brown during the Rutgers – Army game back on October 16, 2010. LeGrand was determined by the doctors as paralyzed from the neck down. Almost two years later, in a wonderful symbolic act, he was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs became the 40th head coach to win the NBA Coach of the Year award since its inception in 1963, guiding the Spurs to the first spot in the Western Conference and a 50-16 record, his 14th 50 win season with the team in 16 years of coaching them.

Derrick Rose was sorely missed by the Chicago Bulls, who fell at home, suffering their worst loss of the season, as the 76ers came out of Chicago with a 109-92 win. Rajon Rondo on the other hand wasn’t missed in Atlanta, where Paul Pierce took over for the Celtics in a 87-80 win. Lakers – Nuggets? Same ol’ Bryant, in a good way that is.

The 2012 NHL playoffs, currently in the conference semifinals stage of things, has 8 teams that have gone quite a long time since their last title. For five of them it’s about winning their first ever Stanley Cup (Predators, Coyotes, Capitals, Blues, Kings) while the other three teams have been going through a long stretch of title droughts, some (Flyers) longer than others (Devils).

Amare Stoudemire hasn’t been having a dream season, and it seems his postseason came to a quick end as he injured himself after the game 2 loss against the Miami Heat. The Knicks’ forward punched through the glass holding the fire extinguisher, which should keep him out of the next game at least.

Aftermath of the City – United Manchester Derby
Roberto Mancini did an excellent job of picking up his players from their horrendous late March – early April collapse. Having Wolves on the schedule is always nice, but instead of folding the title race, City just turned up the pressure on Manchester United, culminating in their 1-0 derby win that puts them back at the top of the table.
