The Texas Rangers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3-2 in dramatic fashion thanks to a great finish from Adrian Beltre, driving in the two needed runs to turn the game around as the home side evened the season opening series at 1-1.

It was a very strong pitching performance from Felix Hernandez, but it would have all been for nothing if it wasn’t for a late scoring run from the Seattle Mariners, beating the Los Angeles Angels 10-3 with six runs in the ninth inning coming from a Justin Smoak home run and Dustin Ackley crucial triple.

In one huge opening day inter-league batting extravaganza the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Texas Rangers 14-10 thanks to Jimmy Rollins hitting a grand slam home run in the second inning and a strong day at bat for Ben Revere and Chase Utley as well.

Home runs stood in the forefront of the Baltimore Orioles beating the Boston Red Sox 2-1, as both Nelson Cruz and Grady Sizemore hit one each on their debuts for their new teams and some very good relief pitching from Zach Britton sealed the win for the home side on opening day.

Aroldis Chapman Hit With a Line Drive in the Face
We’re still not into the 2014 MLB Season, but we’ve already got one major injury, as Arlodis Chapman of the Cincinnati Reds got hit in the face with a line drive by Salvador Perez. Chapman suffered fractures to bones in his nose and left eye and was taken to the hospital for testing and observation.
