In the weird context and existence that is being a veteran bench player on a bad Atlanta Hawks team while trying to put his career back on track, the kind of game Jeremy Lin had against the Cleveland Cavaliers is almost a mini-cause for celebration.

After a season-high in minutes but poor offensive output for Jeremy Lin, came a season-low in minutes  with a bit more points, in the framework of another Atlanta Hawks loss.

The Atlanta Hawks won their home court debut, beating the Dallas Mavericks behind a stellar performance by Kent Bazemore, while Jeremy Lin had another game that the main takeaway from it is still the same as in the previous ones.

Two games into the season, Jeremy Lin and the Atlanta Hawks have yet to taste victory, with Lin showing some encouraging signs but obviously looking, and perhaps deserving, more minutes on the floor.

So what to make of Jeremy Lin’s debut for the Atlanta Hawks in regular season capacity? Mostly, it made me think of how quickly things can change in the NBA, and where Lin is now in terms of role and perception compared to his arrival in Brooklyn not that long ago.
