A number one ranked team and defending national champions that haven’t lost a game in almost two years, but Florida State found it quite difficult to beat Oklahoma State 37-31 in the Cowboys Classic, struggling to contain J.W. College Football – No Upsets in Opening Week

The 2014 College Football season opening week did give us some wild finishes and almost-upsets, but the top two ranked teams in the nation, Florida State (playing Oklahoma State) and Alabama (facing West Virginia) managed to pull through in games that turned out to be a lot more difficult than expected.

Ole Miss Over Boise State – Bad Game, Happy Ending

Playing on a “neutral field” in the South didn’t really help Boise State as they enter a new era, probably one with less success than before. The Broncos were routed 35-13 by Ole Miss in the Georgia Dome, despite Bo Wallace not having the most accurate of performances.

NFL Rumors – Oakland Raiders Might Start Derek Carr at Quarterback

When the Oakland Raiders signed Matt Schaub they thought they’ve found themselves a starting quarterback, at least for the short term. However, his weak performances in preseason added to some very good ones from Derek Carr might mean that the rookie out of Fresno State will be getting the starting role eventually.

NFL Rumors – San Francisco 49ers to Give Carlos Hyde More Carries

Maybe the only bright spot of this preseason for the San Francisco 49ers, Carlos Hyde is going to get more carries than the rookie initially expected to get as Frank Gore, one of the oldest running backs in the league, is probably going to continue his decline through the 2014 NFL Season.
