Chelsea FC – Strikers Still Not Scoring, Especially on Away Matches
It wasn’t that surprising to see Chelsea finish an away match against a top 4 club without scoring or trying that hard to get the goal either. It’s even less surprising that the scoreless run by their strikers, which at the moment consists of the Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba bunch, couldn’t get a goal on an away match, a consistent trend going through all of 2013.

Common belief suggests that leading the Premier League when heading into the Christmas schedule means also being at the top of the table at the end of the season. Generally, in recent seasons, it’s been true, except for one time. Liverpool, the current leaders, were ahead five seasons ago, but eventually ended up behind Manchester United.

Mike Dean Did His Best to Help Chelsea Against Arsenal
The London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea was a huge disappointment. Not just the goalless draw, but poor officiating, possibly even bias, from Mike Dean, allowing Chelsea players like John Obi Mikel to tackle harshly all match long without penalizing anyone, and ignoring a clear penalty by Willian on Theo Walcott.

The London derby had pace, chances, rain and a lot of fouls. It didn’t have goals, or enough bravery, especially from Chelsea, deciding that a 0-0 draw is quite alright with them. Arsenal were the better side and probably the more dangerous as the match dragged on, but not enough to make a real difference.

With January coming up, spending is once again an issue with Arsenal, as the championship race becomes more difficult every week, potentially even losing their top spot this Christmas.
