There’s a lot of soccer on our site, but not all of us here at Sportige.com are soccer fans and the editor permitted us to take a jab at the most popular sport in the world. He also told me make it short. Damn you, red guy with horns. So what blows about “Real Football” as some people from across the Atlantic tend to put it? I guess it’s the faking and diving that go on unpunished if the ref misses the action for a second or just doesn’t see what really happened. Like a WWE ref. Well, best example from recent event is this one from Italy, where Juventus winger Milos Krasic wasn’t even touched but still managed to get a penalty through a girlish like collapse. Mistress Karma decided that Juventus shouldn’t enjoy a cheater and a bad referee, and the penalty awarded was missed.
Well, as we found out from our very helpful readers, Krasic has gotten what he deserves, earning himself a two match suspension. He’ll miss Juve’s big match against AC Milan this Saturday.

The diving criticism is fair, but unfortunately it will continue until the refs crack down and start issuing cards to divers. To me, though, it’s not unlike the block/charge foul in basketball, where the defender flops on the ground. I’ve also noticed diving getting a small foothold in the NHL, sorry to say.
I would like an independent panel to review “dives” after the game and issue fines/penalties after the fact in an effort to further shame these Louganis poseurs into staying on their feet.
Kind of like Derek Jeter pretending to get hit by a pitch when he didn’t or wide receivers acting like the defense is stopping them from getting the ball or like when a basketball player charges or blocks and falls no matter.
Yes diving is horrible in soccer, but it’s in every sport. I don’t think people realize how bad it hurts to be slide tackled by someone going full speed while you are going full speed, just as bad as any football tackle and with out pads.
@ Matt – It happens in other sports, but I think it happens too much in soccer and players get away with it. Retroactive punishment has to be handed on a regular basis. @Chuck – Good idea. I would love the media to be much more harsh with these guys.
I think its all the ref. If he was to use playback all the time, stuff like this wouldnt happen
He did get punished, two match ban by Serie-A, and that was appealed by Juventus, and then upheld.
