Fernando Torres – Rebuilding His Chelsea Career
One bad season with an expensive price tag over your head can be disastrous for a footballer’s career, beginning a slippery slope towards being forgotten. Fernando Torres had more than one bad campaign with a £50 million label over his head, but it seems the Spanish striker is on the right path.

Chelsea FC – The Cost of Building the Current Squad

The get the current squad Chelsea have now, they have spent over £300 million in transfer fees over the years, beginning with Frank Lampard in 2001, through Michael Essien in 2005, Fernando Torres in 2011 (the most expensive player in Premier League history) and Eden Hazard this summer, for a change looking like someone worth the money spent.

Chelsea FC – Eden Hazard & Fernando Torres Combo Looking Better
If there’s one player that has stood out after a week of Premier League football, it’s Eden Hazard of Chelsea with a goal and four assists in his first three matches, involved in pretty much everything good happening on the pitch. Fernando Torres isn’t as influential, but two goals in the first three matches are better than many had hoped for.

Chelsea FC – Eden Hazard Great, The Rest Not so Much
Two matches into the 2012-2013 Premier League season and Chelsea, for the time being, are on top with two wins and six points, for the first time since November 2010. But aside from Eden Hazard having a fantastic start to his career with the club, there wasn’t anything too convincing in the wins over Wigan and Reading.

Fernando Torres Opener Not Enough in Charity Shield (Manchester City vs Chelsea)
Played at Villa Park, the 2012 Charity Shield went to the champions, deservedly so, outplaying a pretty similar Chelsea to the one we saw last season in terms of style and what they try to accomplish in the match. Once again, Spain. Some people thought Italy’s improvement during Euro 2012 meant that they would peak in the final, but it wasn’t to be. Many thought Germany, after a perfect group stage and four goals against Greece in the quarterfinals. Italy were in the way. Spain, ”boring” Spain, with the most dominating performance ever in a Euro final, because they simply have the best players, by far.

Best Photos of the Euro 2012 Final
Spain walked all over Italy in the Euro 2012 final, like no one has ever before. The first team to win back to back Euros, the first team to win three major titles in a row. Their first ever win over Italy in a competitive match, the first team ever to score 4 goals in a Euro final. A grand performance, shrouded by the marks of history in the making.

Euro 2012 Final – Spain vs Italy Summary
No one was really surprised that Spain beat Italy in the final of Euro 2012, but no one expected for the Spanish players, especially Xavi, Iniesta and David Silva to produce their finest performance of the tournament, leading the team to a devastating 4-0 win and a record third consecutive major international title, leaving the Italians stunned and crushed.

Don’t Crown Fernando Torres & Spain So Soon
We’ve been in this situation before – Fernando Torres scores a couple of goals and suddenly all of the bad things that have happened to Fernando Torres over the last couple of years are forgotten. A brace in Spain’s 4-0 win over Ireland still doesn’t mean Torres is back among the best strikers in the world.

Euro 2012 – Day 7 Summary (Italy vs Croatia, Spain vs Ireland)
Fernando Torres came out as the big star and winner of the day, scoring twice to lead Spain in their impressive 4-0 thrashing of Ireland, while Italy were probably filled with questions about how they let Croatia come back from behind to end their clash in a 1-1 draw, in another fantastic day of football in Euro 2012.
