Indiana Pacers – Paul George & Roy Hibbert Need to Keep This Up

While Paul George and Roy Hibbert continued their excellent series against the Miami Heat in game 2, George Hill might have been the real difference with a much improved performance from the series opener, leading to a 97-93 win and a 1-1 tie in the Eastern conference finals.

Miami Heat – LeBron James Couldn’t Handle Roy Hibbert on the Floor

In game 1, LeBron James was the hero, but the role was turned 48 hours later, as the Miami Heat went to their star again to try and save the day, but the presence of Roy Hibbert led to some bad decisions form the NBA MVP, turning the ball over twice and leading to the series now being tied at 1-1.

  • Indiana Pacers – Paul George Isn’t The Hero Because Frank Vogel Left Roy Hibbert On the Bench

Indiana Pacers – Paul George Isn’t The Hero Because Frank Vogel Left Roy Hibbert On the Bench

It was all set up for Paul George to be the unlikely hero of game 1 in the Eastern Conference Finals. He did a good job on LeBron James; hit a wild three pointer that sent the game into overtime; and three super-clutch free throws with 2.2 seconds left to give the Indiana Pacers a 102-101 lead. And then Frank Vogel takes out Roy Hibbert for the final play (again!), leading to a defeat off a buzzer beating layup.

  • Miami Heat – LeBron James Pulls Off a Little Bit of Playoff History

Miami Heat – LeBron James Pulls Off a Little Bit of Playoff History

Despite his triple double, there was a feeling LeBron James was being bested on both ends of the floor by Paul George. But on the final play of the game, with 2.2 seconds left to save the Miami Heat from another opening game loss, the best player in the NBA proved once again that all the talk about him shying away from the basket or not shining in clutch situations is a thing best kept in the past.

  • LeBron James Getting Ready for the Miami Heat – Indiana Pacers Hate

LeBron James Getting Ready for the Miami Heat – Indiana Pacers Hate

It’s only been a year, but things haven’t simmered down between the Indiana Pacers and the Miami Heat. LeBron James got pissed off hearing a comment Frank Vogel never made, which didn’t disturb some reporters letting James know about it. We’ll probably be hearing plenty of trash talk from the other side soon enough. It’ll be a lot messier than it is out West, on the court and in the media as well.

  • Indiana Pacers, First Team in 30 Years to Reach the Conference Finals Without a Top 8 Draft Pick

Indiana Pacers, First Team in 30 Years to Reach the Conference Finals Without a Top 8 Draft Pick

The last time a team has reached the conference finals without a single player selected in the top 8 of the NBA draft were the San Antonio Spurs in 1983, who were led by George Gervin. The Indiana Pacers have now ended the 30 year wait, having only two top-10 players in their active roster in these playoffs, D.J. Augustin and Paul George, telling a little bit about the clever way this team has been built over the last few years.

  • Indiana Pacers – Roy Hibbert & Lance Stephenson Take Them Across the Finish Line

Indiana Pacers – Roy Hibbert & Lance Stephenson Take Them Across the Finish Line

There’s no player that deserves more praise than Lance Stephenson, leading the balanced Indiana Pacers with his best scoring performance of the postseason. George Hill gave them the push by simply recovering in time; Paul George was excellent on offense and a lot more accurate than usual; but it was Stephenson, and Roy Hibbert, with one huge block on Carmelo Anthony, that did the important work as the franchise reaches the conference finals for the first time in nine years.

  • New York Knicks – Carmelo Anthony Finally Finds a Way To Score on Paul George and Play Some Defense

New York Knicks – Carmelo Anthony Finally Finds a Way To Score on Paul George and Play Some Defense

With their backs to the wall, the New York Knicks didn’t get the finest out of Carmelo Anthony. Not an MVP-like performance, but whatever it was, it was good enough to keep them alive in the conference semifinal series, forcing a game 6, by finally showing up to the fourth quarter with some big shots against Paul George and some big defense on the other end against David West.

  • Indiana Pacers Keys to Victory – Paul George Shutting Down Carmelo Anthony, Roy Hibbert Doing the Rest

Indiana Pacers Keys to Victory – Paul George Shutting Down Carmelo Anthony, Roy Hibbert Doing the Rest

The New York Knicks have been embarrassingly bad in their postseason series with the Indiana Pacers, letting Roy Hibbert lead the way in the utter and complete domination under the paint, while their only option on offense, Carmelo Anthony, has been been experiencing the closest thing to legal torture under the hands of Paul George, making the NBA’s top scorer look like an average player at best.

  • Indiana Pacers – Paul George Defense on Carmelo Anthony Not Going Away

Indiana Pacers – Paul George Defense on Carmelo Anthony Not Going Away

It’s one thing to “help” Carmelo Anthony shoot with horrible accuracy from the field; the sheer volume of his attempts from the field aid with that. But Paul George is leading the Indiana Pacers towards the Eastern Conference Finals without being too incredible on offense, but doing an incredible work on the NBA’s leading scorer in the regular season, aided by the fact that his team is annihilating their rivals on the board and in the paint.
