2014 College Football Season – Week 6 Rankings
A weekend of upsets shook the rankings ans the top 25, with Florida State a rock of stability, remaining in the number one spot and gaining strength, while Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are the big movers for the SEC, joined by Baylor and Notre Dame among the undefeated contenders. On the flip side, USC and LSU fell from the rankings while Oklahoma, Oregon, Alabama, Texas A&M and UCLA took a serious nosedive due to their losses.

Michigan Wolverines – Brady Hoke Somehow Still Has a Job

There’s a chance the officials had something to do with Rutgers beating Michigan 26-24 and the Amarah Draboh catch that was ruled incomplete, but Brady Hoke remains someone fighting for his job without a chance of keeping it or making the football program any better. Maybe it’s not respectful, but keeping him any longer is just bad for both sides.

Obviously, it hasn’t been easy for Utah adjusting to the Pac-12. But this year it feels a lot more natural and less out of place. It’s not just the promising start to the season, but the ability to shift the shape of the conference, which now comes after a 30-28 win over UCLA, ruining the undefeated bid for the Bruins.

Auburn Tigers – Should be the New Number One Team in the Nation

After the number 2, 3 and 4 teams lost over this weekend, the quality of wins that Auburn have following their 41-7 drubbing of LSU, compared to what Florida State have done so far this season, should mean that the Tigers, doing a great job of following their accomplishments from last season, deserve to be voted and regarded as the number one team in the nation.

TCU Over Oklahoma – Big 12 Shaken Up by Huge Upset

A TCU win over Oklahoma isn’t such a rare thing when looking back at the history of clashes between the two teams, but at this point in time it’s a huge upset. The Horned Frogs came out with a 37-33 win against the undefeated Sooners thanks to a big game from Treyvone Boykin and on the opposite end, Trevor Knight making too many mistakes.

For the first time this season, Notre Dame needed something big to happen late. Everett Golson wasn’t having a good game, but the return-from-suspension quarterback has come through for them all season long, and it wasn’t any different with a big, late, on a fourth down touchdown pass to deliver the 17-14 win over Stanford.

MLB Playoffs – Los Angeles Dodgers Shine Late, St. Louis Cardinals Can’t Hit

After an explosive first game in the series, the Los Angeles Dodgers bounce back with a 3-2 win thanks to a game-winning home run from Matt Kemp in the 8th inning, while the St. Louis Cardinals, losing their lead in the NLDS, found it very difficult to get anything going offensively.

Mississippi State Bulldogs – Dak Prescott & Josh Robinson Simply Unstoppable

Two undefeated SEC teams entered to play in Starkville. Mississippi State came out with its hands lifted high, winning 48-31 as the combination of Dak Prescott and Josh Robinson was too much for the Aggies to handle, while Kenny Hill had himself his worst game in the 2014 season, which went too perfectly for him so far.
