    For the first time we had a match in this World Cup that had a chance of being remembered more for its brutality and violence and not the football, but eventually Honduras calmed down and accepted their fate of losing to a much better side, as France came away with a 3-0 win to take the top spot in Group E, getting a brace from Karim Benzema and another own goal off of goalkeeper Noel Valladares.

    Another fantastic match to open play in Group E of the 2014 World Cup, as Switzerland conjure up a dramatic win with a Haris Serefovic goal in the very last minute of injury time, beating Ecuador 2-1. The South Americans actually took the lead through Enner Valencia, but another substitute, Admir Mehmedi, equalized early in the second half.

    The trend continues – surprising results and plenty of goals, as Costa Rica open the matches of Group D with a stunning 3-1 win over Uruguay who were playing without Luis Suarez and held the lead through Edinson Cavani. A brilliant Joel Campbell equalized, followed by goals from Oscar Duarte and substitute Marco Urena to claim a 3-1 win, with Maxi Pereira sent off in injury time.
