2014 College Football Season – Week 6 Rankings
A weekend of upsets shook the rankings ans the top 25, with Florida State a rock of stability, remaining in the number one spot and gaining strength, while Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are the big movers for the SEC, joined by Baylor and Notre Dame among the undefeated contenders. On the flip side, USC and LSU fell from the rankings while Oklahoma, Oregon, Alabama, Texas A&M and UCLA took a serious nosedive due to their losses.

Michigan Wolverines – Brady Hoke Somehow Still Has a Job
There’s a chance the officials had something to do with Rutgers beating Michigan 26-24 and the Amarah Draboh catch that was ruled incomplete, but Brady Hoke remains someone fighting for his job without a chance of keeping it or making the football program any better. Maybe it’s not respectful, but keeping him any longer is just bad for both sides.

Pac-12: Utah Keep Ruining it for Ambitious Teams; This Time UCLA
Obviously, it hasn’t been easy for Utah adjusting to the Pac-12. But this year it feels a lot more natural and less out of place. It’s not just the promising start to the season, but the ability to shift the shape of the conference, which now comes after a 30-28 win over UCLA, ruining the undefeated bid for the Bruins.

Auburn Tigers – Should be the New Number One Team in the Nation
After the number 2, 3 and 4 teams lost over this weekend, the quality of wins that Auburn have following their 41-7 drubbing of LSU, compared to what Florida State have done so far this season, should mean that the Tigers, doing a great job of following their accomplishments from last season, deserve to be voted and regarded as the number one team in the nation.

TCU Over Oklahoma – Big 12 Shaken Up by Huge Upset
A TCU win over Oklahoma isn’t such a rare thing when looking back at the history of clashes between the two teams, but at this point in time it’s a huge upset. The Horned Frogs came out with a 37-33 win against the undefeated Sooners thanks to a big game from Treyvone Boykin and on the opposite end, Trevor Knight making too many mistakes.
-
Notre Dame Fighting Irish – Everett Golson Great When it Matters
For the first time this season, Notre Dame needed something big to happen late. Everett Golson wasn’t having a good game, but the return-from-suspension quarterback has come through for them all season long, and it wasn’t any different with a big, late, on a fourth down touchdown pass to deliver the 17-14 win over Stanford.
-
Mississippi State Bulldogs – Dak Prescott & Josh Robinson Simply Unstoppable
Two undefeated SEC teams entered to play in Starkville. Mississippi State came out with its hands lifted high, winning 48-31 as the combination of Dak Prescott and Josh Robinson was too much for the Aggies to handle, while Kenny Hill had himself his worst game in the 2014 season, which went too perfectly for him so far.
-
Ole Miss Over Alabama – Changing the SEC
The dominance of the SEC has never been about parity. But maybe that’s changing. Ole Miss beat Alabama 23-17, ending with Blake Sims throwing an interception while Bo Wallace managed not to ruin anything for the Rebels, ending a long drought in this rivalry and perhaps providing the school with its biggest win in a generation.

College Football – Only Ten Undefeated Teams Left
The first weekend of College Football in October completely changed the outlook of the rankings and what the playoffs will be like according to the current situation, as only ten teams in the nation remain undefeated: Three in the SEC (Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State), two in the ACC (Florida State, Georgia Tech), two in the Big 12 (Baylor, TCU), one in the Pac-12 (Arizona), Notre Dame among the Independents and Marshall from Conference USA.
