The trend continues – surprising results and plenty of goals, as Costa Rica open the matches of Group D with a stunning 3-1 win over Uruguay who were playing without Luis Suarez and held the lead through Edinson Cavani. A brilliant Joel Campbell equalized, followed by goals from Oscar Duarte and substitute Marco Urena to claim a 3-1 win, with Maxi Pereira sent off in injury time.

Day 3 of the 2014 World Cup will also be the longest one with four matches taking place. The biggest of course will be in Group D as England and Italy face each other, and Uruguay playing Costa Rica is also in that group. Euro 2012 – Day 12 Summary (England vs Ukraine, Sweden vs France)
Euro 2012 took the final step of the group stage with a lot of drama, as England hanged on to an undeserved 1-0 lead after Wayne Rooney scored on his tournament debut while John Terry saved a goal that would have been allowed if we had goal line technology. Meanwhile, Sweden got a meaningless win, 2-0 over France, that just meant the French head into the next stage with more problems than they thought.

Roy Hodgson got himself some peace and quiet, even some praise, at least for a few days. England needed a late Danny Welbeck goal to beat Sweden 3-2, ending the Swedes chances in Euro 2012 while France were simply too good for the Ukraine in the post-rain match, winning 2-0 and taking the lead in Group D.
