While most people view Barcelona as a club that mostly uses home grown talent (which is true, to an extent), the current crop of purchased players, beginning with Eric Abidal in 2007, the only pre-Guardiola player outside player still with the squad, cost €211.5 million to assemble, including David Villa (the most expensive signing in the history of the club), Cesc Fabregas and Dani Alves.

No one was really surprised that Spain beat Italy in the final of Euro 2012, but no one expected for the Spanish players, especially Xavi, Iniesta and David Silva to produce their finest performance of the tournament, leading the team to a devastating 4-0 win and a record third consecutive major international title, leaving the Italians stunned and crushed.
