    In probably the best game of the NCAA tournament so far, DeAndre Kane proved to be the hero for Iowa State in a dramatic 85-83 win over North Carolina, which ended with a little bit of controversy due to an uncalled timeout, but didn’t deny the Cyclones their trip to the Sweet Sixteen.

    The second day in the round of 32 provided some great games, but only one real upset, as Stanford beat Kas snas 60-57 to make it into the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in six years, leaving out another team with a freshman that was supposed to be going places this season.

    The string of big upsets in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament continues, beginning with the huge upset in the Mercer – Duke game, with the Blue Devils ousted by the experienced and simply better Atlantic Sun team, while Stephen F. Austin stunning VCU was just as big of a shock for everyone, only with less of a nationwide impact.

    We did have two or three major upsets in the first day of the real NCAA tournament, but the teams expected to go long mostly avoided any problems, as Wisconsin beat American, Syracuse overcame Western Michigan, Florida struggled against Albany, Michigan State had no problem against Delaware, Villanova destroyed Milwaukee and Louisville found it quite difficult to overcome Manhattan.

    We couldn’t have one quiet day of favorites winning all their games while brackets weren’t torn to shreds. Dayton pulled off the first big upset of the NCAA tournament on the very first game, but later on were joined by North Dakota State, coming away as the victors from their clash with Oklahoma.

    We’re done with the first four, so the real NCAA Tournament can begin, even if it starts with the second round. The picture of 64 teams was complete as Tennessee beat Iowa in overtime 78-65, while Cal Poly had an excellent shooting performance to overcome Texas Southern, putting them in the bracket despite their losing record.
