The only draw in the eight matches of the first leg, Chelsea could have done a lot better than their 1-1 draw in Istanbul against Galatasaray if their manager would be a believer in attacking football, but instead decided to play depressing, cynical football in the second half, deserving to head into the second leg with a loss to recover from.

The nightmare season of Manchester United continues as they lose 2-0 to Olympiakos in one of their worst performances under David Moyes, while the Greek champions and league leaders outplayed them for the first 75 minutes before slightly regressing and allowing the visitors a few moments of actually creating their first chances in the match.

The tradition of away teams dominating the knockout stage continues as Borussia Dortmund had a very easy time beating Zenit St. Petersburg in a match that wasn’t even that close, and giving them almost a definite spot in the quarterfinals.

The defense might not be really working, but Liverpool are still in the championship race after a dramatic 4-3 win over Swansea, as Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge kept them ahead of the visitors just by about enough each time they came back while Luis Suarez struggled in a winger’s role.

There wasn’t too much football in the first leg of the knockout stage between AC Milan and Atletico Madrid, but there was one goal from goal from Diego Costa off a late corner kick that gave us the fourth away win from the first four matches, and a lead that looks very promising for Diego Simeone’s side.

After two missed penalties and a red card, it was a spectacular Toni Kroos goal and then a clincher from Thomas Muller that gave Bayern Munich a 2-0 away win against Arsenal that pretty much gives them the spot in the quarterfinals.

Match Highlights – Manchester City vs Barcelona
One moment and probable mistake by the referee gave Barcelona the break they needed, as Lionel Messi scored a penalty kick and later Dani Alves finished the job with the second goal to beat Manchester City away from home 2-0 which pretty much ends their knockout stage clash after the first 90 minutes.

It wasn’t exactly revenge, but it was good enough for Arsenal, as the gunners came away with a 2-1 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup despite being the inferior side for most of the match, thanks to some help from match official Howard Webb.
