Spurs Over Lakers – This Used to be a Fair Fight
Some things seem to stay the same forever: The San Antonio Spurs are always a good team. Other things tends to change: The Los Angeles Lakers have never been worse, and for a franchise with 16 NBA championships that’s quite a rough landing to endure. In the third meeting between the teams this season, it was once again quite easy to see who the better team is, with Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker not taking it easy on a bad and almost pathetic bunch at times.

Minnesota Timberwolves – Ricky Rubio Finds Out He Can Score
It might have been Kevin Love that scored the game winning shot for the Minnesota Timberwolves as they beat the Dallas Mavericks 123-122 in overtime, but Ricky Rubio having his best game of the season, which included more than just assists and showtime was undoubtedly the big story to take out of an entertaining encounter.

Bulls Over 76ers – The Humiliating Losing Streak Continues
Trying to spin what the Philadelphia 76ers are doing this season as anything but tanking and setting the players and head coach to lose would simply be lying to the fans, and the losing trend continued against the Chicago Bulls 102-94, making it a 22nd consecutive loss.

Celtics Over Heat – Rajon Rondo Enjoying the LeBron James Absence
The Boston Celtics aren’t a very good team, but once in a while they can do a bit better than everyone expects of them, as Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh weren’t enough to carry the Miami Heat through a game without LeBron James, while Rajon Rondo looked like a point guard worth keeping for the future.
-
Knicks Over Pacers – The Beginning of a New Era
There’s that feeling in the air of something new, and hope, which hasn’t been something the New York Knicks have been attached with this season. Phil Jackson in the stands, Carmelo Anthony on the court, and a growing winning streak, this time beating the Indiana Pacers 92-86.

Portland Trail Blazers – Looking Nice While Stopping the Slide
Win or lose, the Portland Trail Blazers are a fun team to watch, and it’s a good thing to have them back in the playoffs, trying to succeed with the odds stacked against them because their playing style, especially when LaMarcus Aldridge isn’t playing, simply isn’t going to be good enough to make it far in the postseason. At least Damian Lillard, Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum make it worth watching.

Golden State Warriors – Stephen Curry Taking Care of Business
The 103-89 win for the Golden State Warriors over the Orlando Magic wasn’t all about Stephen Curry. Klay Thompson and David Lee both shot pretty well from the floor, and Steve Blake did a very good job off the bench to help out the second unit. However, the focus, as usual, should go to the starting point guard in another sublime shooting performance.

Miami Heat – LeBron James Hot Start Almost Not Enough
When the going gets tough, games get complicated for no reason. LeBron James was scorching for the Miami Heat, playing against a very depleted Cleveland Cavaliers team. Somehow the game came down to a nail biter in the fourth quarter, where Chris Bosh took over while James provided some late defense to finish the job.

2013-2014 NBA MVP: Kevin Durant or LeBron James, no one else
Even though there’s no real argument about Kevin Durant and LeBron James being the two best players in the NBA, fans and media alike love to throw out alternatives to the MVP award. Chris Paul is always mentioned, with Kevin Love and Blake Griffin getting a nod or two this season. Paul George was on the radar ealier in the year, and so were LaMarcus Aldridge and Anthony Davis.

Los Angeles Clippers – A Reason to be Concerned
Every loss happens for a reason, and even though the Los Angeles Clippers did win 11 games in a row, their 110-100 defeat after an awful performance from Blake Griffin and the rest of the team on both ends of the floor, Doc Rivers has some things to figure out before we look at the Clippers as championship contenders again.
