NHL Playoffs – Los Angeles Kings Thrive Late, Chicago Blackhawks Slightly Stunned
We’ve seen the Los Angeles Kings raise their game countless times with their backs to the wall in recent years, but their 6-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks and especially their performance in the third period, scoring five unanswered goals while Jeff Carter scores a hat-trick in 15 minutes, left quite a few jaws dropped, making it an even series at 1-1.

There weren’t too many surprised faces inside the Honda Center as the Los Angeles Kings once again came through in a tight spot to win game 7 of the conference semifinals, beating the Anaheim Ducks 6-2 and making it to their third consecutive conference finals, facing the Chicago Blackhawks once again.

Pittsburgh Penguins Collapse – Nothing New Under the Sun
This seems to be the norm in the NHL for the last five seasons: The Pittsburgh Penguins coming into the playoffs with more talent and confidence than anyone, but then comes a loss to a lower seed that no one can really explain. This time it was the New York Rangers, coming back from a 3-1 deficit to win three consecutive games and win the series with a 2-1 victory on the road thanks to a power play goal by Brad Richards in the second period.
