Aftermath of the Cotto – Margarito Fight
Miguel Cotto wasn’t fighting to defend his WBA Super belt or prove who’s the best in the Light Middleweight division. Cotto was out there only to avenge his loss to Antonio Margarito, to destroy him. He succeeded, with a 10th round TKO as the Doctors wouldn’t let Margarito continue on account of his eye.

Euro 2012 Group Stage Draw
The Euro 2012 group stage draw gave us one Group of Death (Germany, Netherlands, Portugal and Denmark), a decent draw for the champions (Spain in group C with Italy, Ireland and Croatia), a bad draw for one host (Ukraine with England and France) while a decent one for the other (Poland with Russia, Czech Republic and Greece).

Late November, 11 weeks of NFL action and everything is as expected – Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers can’t lose, Sam Bradford keeps getting sacked, and Jay Cutler leads the Bears to a fifth straight win and Bears fans are sad he’s out for the season. Wait, What?!

Julio Cesar Chavez’ first defense of his WBC Middleweight title belt went smoothly, beating Peter Manfredo by a 5th round TKO, bringing him closer to an imminent big fight, probably against Saul Alvarez and later on, Sergio Martinez.

Aftermath of the Pacquiao – Marquez Title Fight
Manny Pacquiao got away with a majority decision, beating Juan Manuel Marquez in their third fight, as the Mexican Lightweight pushed Manny to the limit, dominating for the first half of the fight, probably even enough to deserve a draw.

Aftermath of the Dawson – Hopkins Title Fight
Not much of a fight to talk of, with the clock showing two minutes in the second round when Chad Dawson pulled a move out of the WWE, body slamming Bernard Hopkins, dislocating the 46 year old’s shoulder and by bizarre decision winning by a TKO, ending up with the WBC and Ring Light Heavyweight title belts.

Aftermath of the Mayweather – Ortiz Title Fight
Floyd Mayweather Jr. used what may be or may be not a cheap shot to knock out Victor Ortiz and win the WBC Welterweight belt, and now nothing stands in the way of a Manny Pacquiao fight except for Mayweather’s own will and eagerness.

Novak Djokovic won his first US Open and his third Grand Slam title in 2011 after beating Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 in the final. An incredible, nearly perfect year from Novak – can he keep it up, Where’s Nadal in all this and how will next year look like?
