MLB Rumors – Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners & Houston Astros Interested in Signing Hanley Ramirez
Maybe the most coveted after free agent this offseason is Hanley Ramirez, coming off two and half years with the Los Angeles Dodgers. There’s more than a slight chance he simply re-signs with them, but he’s also getting plenty of interest from the Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners, Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago White Sox and San Francisco Giants.

MLB Playoffs – Oakland Athletics Hang On, Seattle Mariners Too Late
Despite their terrible finish to the season, the Oakland Athletics win their final game against the Texas Rangers (4-0) and make into the playoffs, setting themselves with a Wild Card game. The Seattle Mariners beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-1, but their efforts and another fantastic pitching performance from Felix Hernandez were too late to take advantage of the A’s collapse.

MLB Playoffs – Seattle Mariners Still Alive, Oakland Athletics Blow Chance
One thing left to settle in the MLB Playoffs picture: Who joins the Los Angeles Angels from the AL West as the wild card team? The Oakland Athletics had an opportunity to clinch their spot but lost 5-4 to the Texas Rangers, leaving the opening to the Seattle Mariners after they beat the Angels 2-1. […]

MLB Playoffs – Los Angeles Angels Are in Before Anyone Else
For the first time after a four-year drought, the Los Angeles Angels are going to be in the postseason, beating the Seattle Mariners 8-1 to be the first team in MLB to clinch a playoff spot while being very close to clinching the AL West, which hasn’t happened since their last postseason visit.

Mariners Over Yankees – Booing Robinson Cano Doesn’t Help
The New York Yankees aren’t used to someone outbidding them, so the fans made it an unpleasant return for Robinson Cano, playing against his former team for the first time as a Seattle Mariners player, helping his team come up with a 6-3 on a very rainy day.

A’s Over Mariners – The Magic of a Walk Off Home Run
The Oakland A’s happen to be the first team to beat the Seattle Mariners this season thanks to a Coco Crisp walk-off home run in the 12th inning to claim the 3-2 win in a game with two big review moments, including the homer itself.

Mariners Over Angels – Late Explosion Supports Scorching King
It was a very strong pitching performance from Felix Hernandez, but it would have all been for nothing if it wasn’t for a late scoring run from the Seattle Mariners, beating the Los Angeles Angels 10-3 with six runs in the ninth inning coming from a Justin Smoak home run and Dustin Ackley crucial triple.

Father & Son Link Brings Good Fortune (Yankees vs Mariners)
It was hard to say what was more special for Andy Pettitte, leading the New York Yankees to a 3-1 win over the Seattle Mariners; making it to 250 career wins, or his son, Josh Pettitte, drafted by the team in the 37th round in the MLB draft.

A Baseball Game That Simply Wouldn’t End (White Sox vs Mariners)
Don’t be fooled by the 7-5 score. The game between the Chicago White Sox and the Seattle Mariners was a complete nightmare for those who love to see some point go on the board, instead of bad hitting (not great pitching, don’t be fooled by that as well) and 13 innings of scoreless baseball.

Felix Hernandez & Stephen Strasburg With No Postseason for Different Reasons
No one actually knows if limiting a pitcher to a certain amount of innings each seasons works. Felix Hernandez is throwing 230-240 innings a season and he’s never played less than 30 games excluding his rookie year. Stephen Strasburg is at 139.1 this season after 24 starts, which means he’ll be shut down in 20.9, according to everyone within the Washington Nationals organization.
