Jeremy Lin is Resting, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Returning & the Charlotte Hornets Regressing
The Charlotte Hornets lost for the second time in a row, beaten 109-91 by the Portland Trail Blazers. Jeremy Lin didn’t play due to an ankle injury, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was back for the first time this season, Nicolas Batum failed in his attempt to impress against his former team and Kemba Walker was mostly shooting bricks, and mysteriously benched in the fourth quarter.

Jeremy Lin Injury Means Charlotte Hornets Completely Reliant on Kemba Walker & Nicolas Batum
The Charlotte Hornets have Nicolas Batum back and didn’t wait to put him back in the lineup despite him being rusty and sluggish from his recurring toe injury, which meant Jeremy Lin moving back to the bench. Steve Clifford showed very little wisdom in that choice, which resulted in a terrible loss against the Utah Jazz.

In a Thursday NBA night without any marquee matchups, the Chicago Bulls demolished the Los Angeles Lakers, the Toronto Raptors kept winning at the expense of the depleted New York Knicks, the Indiana Pacers made things worse for the Atlanta Hawks while the Memphis Grizzlies looked convincing by handing the Milwaukee Bucks another loss.

The Charlotte Hornets produced their worst game of the season, losing 102-73 to the Utah Jazz, ending a three game win-streak as Jeremy Lin returned to the bench and hurt his ankle, Nicolas Batum returned to the lineup and didn’t do anything good while Kemba Walker scored, but that didn’t sweep the team with him towards some sort of comeback.
