  • Euro 2012 – Day 12 Summary (England vs Ukraine, Sweden vs France)

Euro 2012 took the final step of the group stage with a lot of drama, as England hanged on to an undeserved 1-0 lead after Wayne Rooney scored on his tournament debut while John Terry saved a goal that would have been allowed if we had goal line technology. Meanwhile, Sweden got a meaningless win, 2-0 over France, that just meant the French head into the next stage with more problems than they thought.

  • Euro 2012 – Day 11 Summary (Croatia vs Spain, Italy vs Ireland)

The Italians, for once, got the result they needed with a 2-0 win over the sympathetic Irish team, who were simply outplayed and outmatched in every single match they had in Group C, while Spain hung in there with a tough Croatian team before scoring a late goal that put them on top of their group and into the quarterfinals.

  • Euro 2012 – Day 10 Summary (Portugal vs Netherlands, Denmark vs Germany)

Cristiano Ronaldo answered the critics by scoring his first two goals of the tournament, as Portugal took care of the Dutch and left the Netherlands with a shocking 0 points and a humiliating exit for Euro 2012, while Germany, as expected, beat Denmark to finish the group of death with 100% and the top spot.

  • Euro 2012 – Day 9 Summary (Greece vs Russia, Czech Republic vs Poland)

Everything that was predicted in this group got turned up side down. Russia, the best team through the first two matches lost to Greece 0-1, and while safe as long as there was a draw between Poland and the Czech Republic, Petr Jiracek sent the Czechs into the next stage along with Greece as the first quarter-finalists in Euro 2012.

  • Euro 2012 – Day 8 Summary (Ukraine vs France, Sweden vs England)

Roy Hodgson got himself some peace and quiet, even some praise, at least for a few days. England needed a late Danny Welbeck goal to beat Sweden 3-2, ending the Swedes chances in Euro 2012 while France were simply too good for the Ukraine in the post-rain match, winning 2-0 and taking the lead in Group D.

  • Euro 2012 – Day 7 Summary (Italy vs Croatia, Spain vs Ireland)

Fernando Torres came out as the big star and winner of the day, scoring twice to lead Spain in their impressive 4-0 thrashing of Ireland, while Italy were probably filled with questions about how they let Croatia come back from behind to end their clash in a 1-1 draw, in another fantastic day of football in Euro 2012.

  • Euro 2012 – Day 6 Summary (Denmark vs Portugal, Netherlands vs Germany)

Probably the best night of football so far in Euro 2012, as the group of death finally gave us the level of football and competition many expected from it. Portugal came away with a dramatic win over Denmark through Silvestre Varela, while Germany all but secured their qualification with an impressive 2-1 win over the troubled Netherlands.

  • Euro 2012 – Day 5 Summary (Czech Republic vs Greece, Poland vs Russia)

Poland and Russia, as expected, gave us the more entertaining match in a not stop affair, clouded by the pre-match violence that ended in yet another 1-1 draw for the hosts, leaving Group A wide open. Earlier on day 5 of Euro 2012, the Czech Republic rebounded from their opening loss with a quick blitz to nearly put Greece out of the tournament with a 2-1 win.

  • Euro 2012 – Day 4 Summary (France vs England, Ukraine vs Sweden)

Andriy Shevchenko was undoubtedly the hero of the last day of Euro 2012 first round of matches, scoring twice in the Ukraine’s 2-1 win over Sweden, putting them at the top of Group D. England defended well enough against France to secure a 1-1 draw, giving Roy Hodgson a decent start against a much better opponent.
