Kings vs Lakers – The First Winning Streak of the Season
What usually separates the good and bad teams in the NBA, aside from talent, is consistency. The Los Angeles Lakers once again prove the doubters wrong by beating the Sacramento Kings 100-86, getting to three consecutive wins, led by a suddenly efficient Pau Gasol with a 20-10 night and Xavier Henry, scoring 21 points.

Los Angeles Lakers – Pau Gasol & Nick Young Have Changed For the Better
The biggest enemy the Los Angeles Lakers have this season is consistency, which usually separated the good from the bad. Right now, their on the higher side of their 2013-2014 roller-coaster, defined by Pau Gasol giving his best game so far and Nick Young continuing an excellent shooting stretch, leading their team to a 102-95 win over the Golden State Warriors.

Nick Young – The Best Shot Fake Ever Made
The best shot fake in the NBA usually belongs to Dwyane Wade, getting defenders to jump on him and easily draw the fouls. Nick Young may have introduced a new, more effective way of faking out guarding players – making a 360 rotating spin and then easily knock down a jumper or three pointer, just like he pulled off as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Golden State Warriors 102-95.

Grizzlies vs Lakers – Zach Randolph Has Fun Against the Worst Frontcourt in the NBA
It’s been a slow and frustrating start this season, but there’s nothing like playing against the no-defense Los Angeles Lakers to make a big man pad up his stats and boost his confidence, scoring 28 points, 14 of them coming in the final quarter, to lead the Memphis Grizzlies in a 89-86 win, hopefully streaming things towards the right direction.

Los Angeles Lakers – Pau Gasol Looking Old and Sad
Don’t be fooled by Pau Gasol scoring 25 points, a season high for him, in the 99-111 loss to the Denver Nuggets. The Los Angeles Lakers have a problem and issue in almost every position and aspect of the game, but they expected the Spanish big man to be a solution to their early season woes, and not the exact opposite.
-
Lakers vs Nuggets – Kenneth Faried Better With Timofey Mozgov Next to Him
There weren’t too many smart decisions by the Denver Nuggets during the offseason. One of the bad ones was signing J.J. Hickson, a player with the exact same attributes as Kenneth Faried, and putting the two together in the lineup. After a slow start to the season, Brian Shaw is coming around, giving Timofey Mozgov big minutes off the bench, in return getting 23 points from the center and a 111-99 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
-
Xavier Henry & Jordan Hill Forced to Carry the Lakers
There’s no order, no plan, to whatever’s happening with the Los Angeles Lakers this season. Mike D’Antoni is simply improvising, plugging in players in different roles until something clicks, waiting for you know who to return. It’s not consistent but generally, and especially in their very convincing 116-95 win over the New Orleans Pelicans, it works best with Xavier Henry and Jordan Hill on the floor.
-
Los Angeles Lakers – The Writing Was on the Wall
Surprised that the Los Angeles Lakers have been looking this bad early this NBA season? Then you haven’t been paying attention to the downward spiral this team has been in for the last three years, making their 23 points home loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves something that was waiting to happen, and not even close to an upset.
-
Minnesota Timberwolves – Ricky Rubio and a Special Triple Double
As much as the Minnesota Timberwolves looked impressive in their 113-90 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, including a triple double from Ricky Rubio as he finds his form once again after a short rough patch, it also had to do with their rivals simply being one of the worst teams in the NBA.
-
Lakers vs Pelicans – Anthony Davis Rising, Pau Gasol Disappearing
Despite the pre-draft exaggerations, Anthony Davis isn’t the kind of player that turns a franchise completely around. Still, his way to NBA greatness looks clearer with every game that goes by, and as the New Orleans Pelicans beat the Los Angeles Lakers, he makes Pau Gasol like an old has-been as well.
