2013 NFL Free Agency – Oakland Raiders, Arizona Cardinals & Carson Palmer Get What They Want
Instead of releasing Carson Palmer like they intended to, the Oakland Raiders found a way to get something out of the Arizona Cardinals for the declining quarterback, who’ll probably be the starter for the team in 2013, while the San Francisco 49ers finally ended the negotiations with Nnamdi Asomugha, coming out as the winner for the cornerback out of the variety of chasers.

2013 NFL Free Agency – Oakland Raiders & San Francisco 49ers Get Their Quarterbacks
While the trade that brought Matt Flynn from the Seattle Seahawks to the Oakland Raiders is one designated to make him, finally, a starter, Colt McCoy leaving the Cleveland Browns and joining the San Francisco 49ers is a trade that was made to make him a backup, sitting behind Colin Kaepernick.

2013 NFL Free Agency – Brent Grimes & Kevin Kolb Find New Homes
It doesn’t matter if you’ve had a bad year or are carrying an injury or two. There just isn’t enough quality in the NFL to pass on guys like Kevin Kolb, who signed with the Buffalo Bills, or Brent Grimes, who got picked up by the Miami Dolphins, despite the warning signs flashing all over them.

Available Cap Space of NFL Teams After Free Agency
After most of the teams have completed their free agency signings, or at least the expensive ones, what’s left is picking up small pieces for minor roles, mostly and setting as much as possible left for the NFL draft. 2013 NFL Free Agency – Baltimore Ravens Beat Denver Broncos to Elvis Dumervil

2013 NFL Free Agency – Chicago Bears Replace Urlacher With D.J. Williams
It didn’t take the Chicago Bears very long to get over the departure of Brian Urlacher, filling the hole at middle linebacker with a younger and probably more versatile version (but not necessarily better), signing D.J. Williams who played his entire career for the Denver Broncos.

Rule Changes in the 2013 NFL Season
As always, the most interesting part of the annual owners meeting is the rules that are voted for, this time six being presented and all of them passing. The two that stand out the most is the abolishment of the infamous Tuck Rule that saved Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the playoffs against the Raiders 12 years ago, and the controversial crown helmet leading rule, making life a little bit harder for running backs in the NFL.

2013 NFL Free Agency – Ed Reed & Brian Urlacher Find New Homes
Nothing lasts forever, especially in the NFL, where team-player loyalty doesn’t exist; it’s all about production and money. Ed Reed left the Baltimore Ravens after 11 seasons to the Houston Texans, while Brian Urlacher, a 13-year veteran with the Chicago Bears, will play for someone else next season.

On Geno Smith and Becoming (Or Not) a Successful NFL Quarterback
There’s really no way of telling if someone is going to be great in the NFL, especially not with quarterbacks. Geno Smith was on an amazing run for the first half of his final season with West Virginia, looking like the best in the nation at his position. He’s hoping that those five weeks are what stick in the minds of those who will determine his fate and place in the next NFL draft

New York Jets – Tim Tebow Still in the Mix at Quarterback
Despite what we said a few days ago about Tim Tebow and his chances to still be a factor for the New York Jets and in the NFL in general, Rex Ryan is insisting that he still hasn’t chosen his quarterback for the 2013 season, and that Tebow, who some thought is never going to play in the position again, certainly not under the current Jets’ head coach, is in the mix for the starting position.
