  • Deadline Day Transfers Around Europe

Panic day, as August 31 should be called, was as usual, busy as ever. In England it was Arsene Wenger, pressing the panic button and going against everything he usually preaches regarding players he signs and the Great Plan. Inter Milan were quite busy themselves and in all the past few days were quite hectic regarding fax machines, phone calls between Football directors and contract signings.

  • The Fall of Arsene Wenger (Manchester United vs Arsenal)

Image: Source Wayne Rooney scored a hat trick, but the most inruiging figure on the pitch this afternoon at Old Trafford was Arsene Wenger. The fading away confidence, the body language, accepting the loss, than the collapse, than the utter and complete humiliation. The signs were all there, but Arsenal’s 8-2 drubbing by the hands of […]

  • Luis Suarez Did Everything But Score (Liverpool vs Bolton)

Liverpool and Kenny Dalglish are getting there. Luis Suarez was brilliant, unstoppable. Everything Liverpool eventually managed to do, which was three goals and a very impressive display this evening at Anfield, happened through all of the mayhem Suarez created in that Bolton back four. A comfortable 3-1 win, which could have been much more resounding.

  • Squeezing Out Another Win (Chelsea vs Norwich)

Juan Manuel Mata scored on his Chelsea debut to make the long added time worthwhile, but Chelsea produces another disappointing match and display, getting the win mostly thanks to a penalty given to them in the 82nd minute, which Frank Lampard, as usual, struck with the usual success. Bottom line – 3-1 over a very weak Norwich side, but Chelsea look nothing like a title bound team.

  • Title Holders and Bad Pretenders (Manchester United vs Tottenham)

During the first half I was thinking – Manchester United’s midfield is too weak. They can’t even dominate a Tottenham side that had no aspirations of any possession. Danny Welbeck looked like a striker from a mid-table club, borderline starter. After Anderson’s 76th minute goal, after a cheeky heel from Welbeck, my mind was singing a different tune about Manchester United, the champions and the best team in England right now.

  • A New Edin Dzeko (Bolton vs Manchester City)

It wasn’t Sergio Aguero who set the field alight this Sunday afternoon at the Reebok stadium, but Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko, continuing his impressive start to the 2011-2012 campaign. He scored his third goal (including the community shield) in so many matches, making his 27 million pound purchase last season look a bit better, being the best man on the pitch in City’s 3-2 win over Bolton.

  • Sergio Aguero and Maybe a New Sensation

Is Sergio Aguero the man to make Manchester City an exciting team? At 38 million pounds, he better be. Leaving jokes aside, Aguero’s fantastic 30 minutes yesterday – two goals and one creative assist to David Villa, capping off a whopping 4-0 thrashing of Swansea leaves the taste buds in mouths of City fans hungry for more.

  • 4 Things to Think of After the First Day in the English Premiership

Arsenal and Arsene Wenger look depressed, Kenny Dalglish has a lot of work before Liverpool can make the most of their spent money, Blackburn and QPR struggle to impress (at best) while Ivan Klasnic has a wonderful match.

  • Luis Suarez Ain’t Enough for Happy Opening (Liverpool vs Sunderland)

Luis Suarez’ goal wasn’t enough to spark Liverpool to a exciting and impressive display on the first day of the 2011-2012 season in the English Premiership. Sebastian Larsson’s fantastic goal gave Sunderland a 1-1 draw at Anfield.

  • Manchester United and the Rest (Sort of a Preview for the 2011-2012 Premier League)

Alex Ferguson is not alone with his hunches and feeling this year, just before the first weekend of Premier League football kicks off. Manchester United, the defending champions, last year and four of the last five seasons, are the favorites to win the title. After the Community Shield second half performance, with Wayne Rooney, Nani and Javier Hernandez, Chicharito from now on, Fergie’s looks set to rule Manchester for another year and make it 20 league titles for Manchester United this season.
