Spurs Look Like NBA Title Favorites Again
If finishing first in the Western Conference wasn’t enough for some people (including me), their dominant sweep of the Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs, winning by an average margin of 16 points, might be the final piece in convincing doubters that this team isn’t what last year’s San Antonio Spurs were about.

Knicks over Heat – Carmelo Anthony and the Small Hope That Remains
Carmelo Anthony was having a terrible series up until Game 3. But then, he saw Shane Battier guarding him in crunch time and not LeBron James. With Amare Stoudemire at his side, Anthony scored 41 point, leading the New York Knicks to their first playoff win in 11 years.

James Harden Can Be the Hero for the Thunder Sometimes
James Harden isn’t an All-Star like his two more prolific teammates, Westbrook and Durant, but his ability to score coming off the bench is just as important to the Thunder’s success. It was his scoring (29 points) that put his team back in the game, en route to a 103-97 win and a dominant sweep over the 2011 NBA Champions, the Dallas Mavericks.

Nuggets Over Lakers – JaVale McGee Makes All the Difference
JaVale McGee didn’t get the start, but he got to play for 28 minutes, making the most of them, finishing with the impressive stat line of 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks, helping the Denver Nuggets beat the Los Angeles Lakers 99-84 and get back into the series, making it 1-2 Lakers.

LeBron Loves New York; Durant Destroys Dallas
LeBron James usually has big games in New York. Maybe it’s the Knicks’ fans, maybe it’s the Knicks themselves. Maybe it’s just occasion of playing in the Madison Square Garden. It wasn’t any different in Game 3, leading the Miami Heat to a 87-70 and a 3-0 lead in the First round series, scoring 32 points.

2012 NBA Playoffs Diary – Day 5
Tony Parker scored 18 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs in the biggest blowout of the playoffs so far, crushing the Utah Jazz 114-83 in what’s beginning to look like a disappointing end to the surprising Jazz’ season. Maybe they would have been better off not making the postseason at all, bulking up in the draft with a high pick?

2012 NBA Playoffs Diary – Day 4
Derrick Rose was sorely missed by the Chicago Bulls, who fell at home, suffering their worst loss of the season, as the 76ers came out of Chicago with a 109-92 win. Rajon Rondo on the other hand wasn’t missed in Atlanta, where Paul Pierce took over for the Celtics in a 87-80 win. Lakers – Nuggets? Same ol’ Bryant, in a good way that is.

2012 NBA Playoffs Diary – Day 3
Amare Stoudemire hasn’t been having a dream season, and it seems his postseason came to a quick end as he injured himself after the game 2 loss against the Miami Heat. The Knicks’ forward punched through the glass holding the fire extinguisher, which should keep him out of the next game at least.

2012 NBA Playoffs Diary – Day 2
Chris Paul wasn’t having a great, memorable night, but he played well enough while carrying a groin injury to lead the Clippers through one of the franchise’s most incredible playoff wins, coming back from 24 points down in the fourth quarter to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 99-98, hitting the winning free throws, calm and cold as ice.

LeBron James at His Best No Match For Weak Knicks
LeBron James, at his best, is a level above almost everyone in the NBA. Unstoppable, like he was against the New York Knicks in game 1 of the Heat-Knicks first round playoff series, leading Miami to an easy 100-67 win.
