By beating Duke 45-20, North Carolina didn’t just get to win their huge rivalry game; they also made sure the Blue Devils won’t play in the ACC championship game, handing the ACC Coastal division title to Georgia Tech.

Before there’s rivalry week, comes a set up week. For teams like Alabama, Oregon and Mississippi State, it’s just another easy weekend before the more tricky part up ahead. Florida State find themselves in a slightly more difficult situation, one that could end their undefeated season and their chances of making the college football playoff.

We still haven’t seen what a four-team College Football Playoff looks like, and already some are calling for an expansion – making it an eight team playoff, although it’s hard to believe that will erase any of the arguments about ‘deserving’ and eligibility we have now.

Despite losing to Alabama, according to the hypothetical BCS standings of the 2014 season following week 12, Mississippi State remain one of the top 4, which means they still make it into the College Football playoff alongside their SEC West rivals, Florida State and Oregon.

A big change on top of the rankings with Florid State taking over the number one spot while Alabama move to number two thanks to their win against Mississippi State, dragging the Bulldogs down to number four. Oregon complete the top 4 despite not playing, sitting still at number three.

Florida Gators – Will Muschamp Deserves to be Fired
IT seems that the Will Muschamp era at Florida comes to an end, with the head coach being let go at the end of the season after another poor performance from his team, especially on offense. He’ll get the chance to be on the sidelines in the next two games but will be let go once the regular season ends.

Georgia Over Auburn – SEC East Still Up For Grabs
A big win for Georgia over Auburn means more than just bragging rights for the SEC East over the possibly overhyped West. It’s also an opening for the Bulldogs to still win their division and go to the conference championship game, although that will only happen if Missouri lose on of their two remaining games.

Oregon State Over Arizona State: Pac-12 South Race Blown Wide Open
It’s a tradition for Oregon State to ruin the plans and ambitions of other teams. By beating Arizona State 35-27 they didn’t just take out the Sun Devils from playoff contention, they also made the race for the Pac-12 South division title wide open again, meaning it’s going to take us a bit more time before we know who comes out of the division to play for the conference championship.
