After seeing the first upset of the tournament yesterday, Spain hope not to be the next tournament favorites to drop point on their opening match. It’s funny treating Italy as such underdogs, but that’s their situation. Ireland and Croatia will close the day in Group C, in one of the toughest matches to predict in Euro 2012.

Euro 2012 – Day 2 Summary (Netherlands – Denmark, Germany – Portugal)
Mario Gomez was the hero for Germany as they managed to pull through a very tough and physical fixture with Portugal, coming away as the 1-0 winners, while Denmark joined them as the surprise leaders in group B with Michael Krohn-Delhi delivering a stunning goal to beat the Netherlands 1-0. Joachim Low disgusted everyone by eating what he picked from his nose.

Michael Krohn-Dehli Stuns the Group of Death (Netherlands vs Denmark)
Despite taking 29 shots on goal and getting 11 corner kicks, the Netherlands failed to find a way through the Danish defense and the safe hands of Stpehan Andersen. Michael Krohn-Dehli was the only player to score a goal, as Denmark stunned the Dutch with a shocking 1-0 win to open up Group B, the group of death.

Euro 2012 moves on to day 2, opening the matches in the Ukraine with the group of death (Group B) everyone’s waiting to see. Denmark will try and upset hopeful Netherlands while Germany and Portugal clash later, in Cristiano Ronaldo’s effort to show he can do it with the national team as well.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day to kick of Euro 2012. Poland and Greece provided us with two goals and two red cards, while Russia showed from the first moment they are the class of this group with an impressive 4-1 thrashing of the Czech Republic after a wonderful performance from Andrei Arshavin and Alan Dzagoev.

For me, there are four nations in the Euro 2012 that can win it – Spain, Germany, France and The Netherlands. Other than that? It would be a huge surprise to see someone else lift the trophy, althouh miracles do happen once in a while – Just look at Denmark in 1992 and Greece in 2004.
