2012 NBA Playoffs Diary – Day 1
Derrick Rose went down, and the Chicago Bulls saw a big chunk of their title hopes disappear. LeBron James put on a huge show to open the Heat’s title run. Kevin Durant showed just how clutch he is against the stubborn Dallas Mavericks. The Orlando Magic stunned the Indiana Pacers, but nothing seemed to be as impactful as Rose tearing his ACL.

Best NBA Comics Ever?
NBA players portrayed as kids – some fun, some annoying, some being bullies, as J.O Applegate imagines and demonstrates how some of the league’s biggest stars would look like, playing together during recess.

Chicago Bulls, the Best Fourth Quarter Team in the East
The Chicago Bulls have the edge above everybody else in the East when it comes to fourth quarters. It doesn’t even matter if Derrick Rose plays or not, averaging 1.07 points per possession in the fourth quarter, limiting opponents to 0.956 in the fourth. The league average is 1.02.

LeBron James and the Hunt for Home Court Advantage
LeBron James isn’t resting as the playoffs await just around the corner. While Chris Bosh got his second night off and Derrick Rose missed yet another game, the NBA’s best player dominated in an aggressive, playoff-like affair, leading the Miami Heat to a 83-72 win over the Chicago Bulls. Still hope for home court advantage.

LeBron James and a Different Kind of Clutch
LeBron James gets a lot of criticism for his performance on fourth quarters and especially last shot scenarios and situations. Knicks Can’t Expect Playoff Success With Carmelo Anthony On His Own

LeBron James Needed a Relaxing Bobcats Rebound Kinda Night
LeBron James didn’t need to be half as good as he can be against the Charlotte Bobcats, despite Dwyane not playing for the third time in two weeks. James finished with 19 points as the Heat bounced back from their crushing overtime loss in Chicago, easily dispatching of the worst team in the NBA 105-82.

Teamwork and Depth Make Bulls Better Than the Heat
Derrick Rose had an awful night. He didn’t even get to play in crunch time. But the Chicago Bulls, on a night in which Rose made only one field goal, didn’t need him. The Miami Heat had all big three firing all cylinders, but nothing else, and the Bulls’ depth and outside shooting was more than enough to handle Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh.

Heat & LeBron James Settle Score With Thunder & Durant
LeBron James and the Miami Heat had something to prove. As little as some regular season games mean in the long run, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder and outplaying Kevin Durant seemed like a must for a team that unlike the criticism around them, didn’t seem to buy in to the apocalyptic prophecies.
