    2014 NFL Season Awards

    Just before the Super Bowl it’s time for the NFL to hand out it’s awards for the best players in the 2014 season, acknowledging the excellence of Aaron Rodgers, the incredible impact of J.J. Watt, the ability to bounce back from injury of Rob Gronkowski and the promise shown by Teddy Bridgewater.

    Just before the Super Bowl it’s time for the NFL to hand out its awards for the 2013 season, with Peyton Manning standing out above the rest of the competition by winning his fifth MVP award and his second offensive player of the year accolade.

    Surprise? Maybe with Andres Iniesta’s name, but not by seeing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have made it once again to the final three on the shortlist for UEFA’s best player in Europe award, with Iniesta guaranteed a third place while the two mega stars battle it out for the second consecutive year.

  • Euro 2012 Summary – MVP, First XI and Top Scorers

    Once again, Spain. Some people thought Italy’s improvement during Euro 2012 meant that they would peak in the final, but it wasn’t to be. Many thought Germany, after a perfect group stage and four goals against Greece in the quarterfinals. Italy were in the way. Spain, ”boring” Spain, with the most dominating performance ever in a Euro final, because they simply have the best players, by far.

  • Another FIFA Ballon d’Or for Lionel Messi

    Lionel Messi added another award to his incredibly packed trophy cabinet, winning his third consecutive Ballon d’Or, further cementing his place, at least in the books as the record will show, as the greatest player in the world and this era. Cristiano Ronaldo and Xavi finished 2nd and 3rd respectively, while Neymar picked up the Puskas award for 2011 goal of the year.

    A new award, like we didn’t have enough. With the Ballon D’Or and FIFA Player of the year becoming one, UEFA have come out with their version, UEFA Best Player in Europe award, selected by journalists from all 53 UEFA members. Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez and Cristiano Ronaldo finished as the top 3 players on the ballots this season. Who’s first? We’ll know in August, during the Champions League Group Stage draw.
