For only the second time this season (both in conference play) Villanova suffer a loss, as Georgetown beat the number four team in the country 78-58 to take the lead in the Big East.

Creighton Over Villanova – Best in the Big East, For Now
The Big East is no longer the Power House conference it used to be but there’s still plenty of talent and quality in it, which this season is mostly concentrated between Creighton and Villanova. For the second time this season the Bluejays and especially Doug McDermott proved it’s not really a fair fight between these two either.

Conference Realignment – The New Big East
College Football tore the old Big East apart, with the conference to be wiped away from the slate, renamed into something else, possibly the America 12. In basketball, we’ll have a Big East, a new Big East; a combination of the Catholic 7 (Georgetown, Providence, St. John’s, Seton Hall, Villanova, Marquette and DePaul), and three new schools joining the conference; Butler, Xavier and Creighton, making it quite the mid-major powerhouse.
