Chelsea FC – Jose Mourinho Insulting His Strikers
There was no intention on Jose Mourinho’s part for his comments on Chelsea’s striker issues and specifically a joke about Samuel Eto’o to be “on the record” but he was taped nonetheless by Canal Plus, leaving the manager quite furious about a private conversation turning into public, leaving him in an uncomfortable spot with some of his players.

Chelsea FC – Strikers Still Not Scoring, Especially on Away Matches
It wasn’t that surprising to see Chelsea finish an away match against a top 4 club without scoring or trying that hard to get the goal either. It’s even less surprising that the scoreless run by their strikers, which at the moment consists of the Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba bunch, couldn’t get a goal on an away match, a consistent trend going through all of 2013.

Chelsea FC – Jose Mourinho Is Still Their Biggest Asset
Is making a switch into a 4-4-2 formation, playing that way for an entire half, that much of a stroke of genius? Yes, or at least it seems like it when you win. Chelsea took advantage of conceding a goal after only 14 seconds to fire back in an unexpected way during the second half, as Jose Mourinho made a change that his usually quite resourceful opponents couldn’t handle. Demba Ba being the spark of change might have been even more surprising.

Chelsea FC – Oscar Proves He Can Play With Juan Mata
The excellent performance from Oscar and the fantastic result coming from throwing in Eden Hazard and Willian late into the match is another big encouragement to Jose Mourinho that what he’s doing with Chelsea this season is keeping them on the right track, as substituting Juan Mata might have raised some eyebrows, but still delivered the goals his team was looking for.

Chelsea FC – Strikers (Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o, Demba Ba) Who Can’t Score Goals
One of the interesting facts about the current crop of strikers Chelsea currently has, consisting of Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba, is that they’ve scored less (combined) for the club since the beginning of last season, while loaned out Romelu Lukaku or gotten rid of Daniel Sturridge have outscored them on their new teams.
-
Chelsea FC – Demba Ba Doesn’t Blame Anyone But Himself
When Chelsea spent only £7 million last season to sign Demba Ba in order to somehow rectify their terrible striker situation, it seemed like a steal and an amazing deal. Eight months later, and the Senegalese striker knows that he’s been a failure at the club, blaming no one but himself for not finding a more permanent place in the lineup.
-
Chelsea FC – Samuel Eto’o Might Not Have Been the Wisest of Signings
Even if Samuel Eto’o still has plenty of goalscoring talent to help Chelsea, it’s not certain that adding him into the mix of strikers was the smartest decision made by the club this summer, and might regret their decision to add the player.
-
Chelsea FC – Eden Hazard & Juan Mata Don’t Look Good This Early
One of the easiest things to notice about this Chelsea team is the depth, especially when compared to last season. But a deep squad doesn’t mean much when its two best players, Eden Hazard and Juan Mata, have failed to put in a meaningful performance that’ll justify their place in the lineup and their recognition as stars.

Chelsea FC – Fernando Torres Remains a Huge Question Mark
The new Premier League season is almost here, and we haven’t been hearing anything about Fernando Torres for weeks, which is quite strange. From a player everyone were quite confident will be sold at some point, it seems like it’s going to be another season of disappointing and speculation of whether or not he can get his mojo back.

Chelsea FC – Romelu Lukaku About Ending the ‘Wonderkid’ Phase
The most important decision made by Chelsea this summer might turn out to be starting to believe in Romelu Lukaku. No longer loaned out to other clubs or spending time with the reserve team. The Belgian striker has proven he’s ready to become a star in the Premier League, and there’s a good chance he’ll get that opportunity this season.
