When Team USA Doesn’t Win Gold in the Olympics
Since Men’s basketball tournaments began in the Summer Olympics back in 1936, there were only four occasions of Team USA not winning the gold medal. In 1972, when the Soviet Union won in probably the most famous Olympic basketball game of all-time; in 1980, when the Americans led a boycott of the Moscow Olympics; in 1988, when the USSR won gold while the final team of non-NBA players took bronze; and in 2004, with Argentina taking gold, in what resulted in a massive overhaul to the way the international tournament was perceived in the United States, and the birth of the Redeem Team.

Team USA – Down to 34 Players Competing for a Place on the 2016 Olympic “Dream Team”
There will be 34 players in Team USA’s minicamp in Las Vegas next week, determining eventually who are the 12 that will go to the 2016 Summer Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro. The list includes four players (Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, Draymond Green) from NBA champions Golden State Warriors and three (LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love) from finalists Cleveland Cavaliers.

Team USA Roster For Next Olympics & Basketball World Cup
The people in charge of USA Basketball and the ongoing editions of the “Dream Team” are going to announce a 28-man roster (which will get trimmed down) for the 2014 Basketball World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics, which includes LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony and Derrick Rose among the veterans of previous Team USA squads, but also some new faces.

After winning two Olympic Gold medals. and adding a Bronze in both the Olympic games and the Basketball World Cup, it seems like LeBron James has had enough with USA Basketball and the ongoing Dream Teams, focusing on his NBA career and resting from it during the summer from now on.

USA Basketball – Who Needs to Replace Coach K
It’s been 7 years with 2 Olympic Gold Medals for Mike Krzyzewski, building back a somewhat torn down Dream Team franchise with Jerry Colangelo that suffered from a disappointing run before Coach K took the reigns. However, the 2012 London Olympics were the last time for him, and it’s likely that either Gregg Popovich or Doc Rivers will take over the position.

With his second gold medal, LeBron James became one of fifteen NBA players to win the Olympic basketball tournament twice. More impressively, he joined a special and elite club that now only he, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen are members in, of players who have the NBA title and the Olympic title in the same summer.

NBA Players With 2 Olympic Gold Medals
The gold medal won by Team USA after a 8-0 sweep of the competition added Carmelo Anthony, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Chris Paul and Deron Williams to the list of NBA players who have won two Olympic gold medals, joining Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, Gary Payton, Patrick Ewing, Chris Mullin, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Jason Kidd and John Stockton.
