    Once again, an award Messi can win and Ronaldo can’t. He isn’t even nominated. The Puskas Award, FIFA’s best goal of the year for 2012 has 10 goals up for the title, with Lionel Messi on the list, along with the dribbling (and last year’s champion) Neymar & Hatem Ben Arfa who are the big names on the list.

FIFA have released their 10 nominees for the 2011 FIFA Puskas Award, with Wayne Rooney’s scissor kick goal in the Manchester derby standing out as the leading candidate. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s wonder strike against Lecce, Neymar’s wizadry with the ball or maybe even Dejan Stankovic’s 50 meter volley could give him a fight.

    Hey, when you give out an award for a first time, the UEFA Best Player in Europe award, given to a footballer playing for a football club in Europe that was better than the rest in the previous season, you better get it right. Lionel Messi, to the joy of most of the world, was the right choice.
