Despite the replay malfunction that the Boston Red Sox preferred to talk about after losing 7-4 to the New York Yankees, the deciding factor in the game was some awful pitching from John Lackey, helping Brian McCann, Alfonso Soriano, Kelly Johnson and Carlos Beltran practice on their home run hitting skills.

Some excellent pitching from John Lackey and some big hitting from rookie Jackie Bradley Jr gave the Boston Red Sox a 5-1 win over the Texas Rangers, ending their three game losing streak and starting off their second home series of the season nicely.

In the center of the five-and-a-half hours long game between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays stood John Lackey hitting Matt Joyce with a pitch, leading to the usual bench clearing event fans love to see (not that there were that many in attendance), but the bottom line was the AL East standing not changing by much.
