With the Detroit Tigers feeding the bottom of the AL Central and trying to cut their payroll, it’s no wonder Justin Verlander is on the trading block. If anyone is going to land the Cy Young and MVP winner, it’ll probably be the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers. One might think the New York Yankees would also be in the picture, but the Tigers won’t let Verlander go to an American League team.

One of the more interesting races left in Major League Baseball and the playoffs is that for the top of the AL Central, as the Detroit Tigers got close to erasing the gulf between them and the Kansas City Royals, winning 9-5 to open the two team’s series with a solid start from Justin Verlander and a big hitting day for Torii Hunter.

Finally a Hit That Means Something (Tigers vs A’s)
There wasn’t much to be proud of for both lineups in game 2 of the ALDS series between the Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics. Beyond the excellent pitching from Justin Verlander and Sonny Gray, there was one moment of clutch and greatness from Stephen Vogt, driving in the only run in the game at the bottom of the ninth, making it a walk off hit to tie up the series at 1-1.
