It’s hard to put a finger on just one thing David Moyes did in a humiliating loss for Manchester United against their biggest rivals. From the defense with Phil Jones and Nemanja Vidic which looked scared and panicked, to the non existent midfield with Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick. The wings, with two players not built for this kind positioning or physicality in Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj, while two forwards in Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney are made useless by wrong tactics and zero sense of confidence and drive.

A 1-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk isn’t what will take the pressure off of David Moyes or suddenly turn Manchester United into a machine that will run off on the Premier League, but a lineup and formation used by David Moyes late in the match, which had Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Shinji Kagawa and Adnan Januzaj all playing together might be a partial answer to the team’s problems in the league.

No one expected for David Moyes to have an easy first season at the helm as Manchester United manager. However, no one expected it to be this bad. What’s more frustrating for those who have the club’s best interest in mind is that there’s no sign of improvement, consistency or some sort of instilling football philosophy. David Moyes is diverting attention from himself to the players, mentioning luck and other things as the culprits in the bad results, but it’s hard to deny he has a huge part in everything that’s going on.
