Manchester United – Louis van Gaal Knows He Has Work to do

Reality hit Manchester United and it’s manager, Louis van Gaal, in the face on the opening match of the new Premier League season. Wayne Rooney did score a goal, but it was far from enough against an alleged inferior opponent. The combination of new and changing tactics, young and ill-positioned players with similar problems to those from last season resulted in a terribly disappointing performance.

Manchester United – Wayne Rooney Shines Bright in Sabotage Aftermath

The beginning of the Ryan Giggs era, as short or long as it may become, was a great one for Manchester United, getting a win, a convincing one, at Old Trafford, which has been an issue for them this season. Wayne Rooney looked a bit better than the rest of the players, joining his brace to that of Juan Mata, and the England international might be one of the few to actually come out as winners at the club from this horrendous season.

Manchester United – Wayne Rooney & Robin van Persie Stuck With David Moyes

It’s hard to put a finger on just one thing David Moyes did in a humiliating loss for Manchester United against their biggest rivals. From the defense with Phil Jones and Nemanja Vidic which looked scared and panicked, to the non existent midfield with Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick. The wings, with two players not built for this kind positioning or physicality in Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj, while two forwards in Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney are made useless by wrong tactics and zero sense of confidence and drive.

Manchester United Finally Finding The Right Lineup?

A 1-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk isn’t what will take the pressure off of David Moyes or suddenly turn Manchester United into a machine that will run off on the Premier League, but a lineup and formation used by David Moyes late in the match, which had Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Shinji Kagawa and Adnan Januzaj all playing together might be a partial answer to the team’s problems in the league.

  • Manchester United – David Moyes Has to Stop Blaming Luck

Manchester United – David Moyes Has to Stop Blaming Luck

No one expected for David Moyes to have an easy first season at the helm as Manchester United manager. However, no one expected it to be this bad. What’s more frustrating for those who have the club’s best interest in mind is that there’s no sign of improvement, consistency or some sort of instilling football philosophy. David Moyes is diverting attention from himself to the players, mentioning luck and other things as the culprits in the bad results, but it’s hard to deny he has a huge part in everything that’s going on.

  • Manchester United – Wayne Rooney Needs a Better Manager Than David Moyes

Manchester United – Wayne Rooney Needs a Better Manager Than David Moyes

There’s always a debate when it’s time to blame someone. Who is more responsible for a team looking bad – the manager or the players? David Moyes might be over criticized from the day he took the Manchester United job, but his inability to keep this team on its edge and hungry for more, while Wayne Rooney, along with Adnan Januzaj and David de Gea, seem to be the only players not suffering from too many highs & lows in his game.

Manchester United – Michael Carrick Injury Poses a Big Problem

Going by recent history, injuries to Manchester United players never keep them out as much as the initial assessments suggest, but no matter how long Michael Carrick is going to need to recover from his Achilles tendon problem, it’s a big blow for the Premier League champions.

  • Manchester United – Robin van Persie Can’t Be This Wasteful

Manchester United – Robin van Persie Can’t Be This Wasteful

When Ashley Young keeps lowering the bar for cheating and diving and Marouane Fellaini has yet another awful performance for Manchester United, Robin van Persie should be one of the players David Moyes trusts with his eyes closed. However, the Dutchman proved just as lacking as some of his teammates.

  • Manchester United – Adnan Januzaj The Wind Behind Wayne Rooney & Robin van Persie

Manchester United – Adnan Januzaj The Wind Behind Wayne Rooney & Robin van Persie

Things are starting to look better for Manchester United as they win consecutive league matches, with most of the newly found success having to do with Adnan Januzaj playing a lot better than any 18-year old should, being the driving force behind Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie who both got on the scoresheet in a match that was ever only 22 minutes after it began.

  • Manchester United: David Moyes Is Still a Small-Time Manager

Manchester United: David Moyes Is Still a Small-Time Manager

At some point, maybe Manchester United will start picking up points at the rate we’re used to seeing from them. However, until that day happens, the fingers will still be pointed at David Moyes for every wrong decision he makes and takes, and the comparisons between him and the great manager he replaced will weigh heavy on his shoulders.
