Marcus Mariota was great enough this season for Oregon to win the award, which is what’s going to happen when the winner is announced, leaving the other two finalists, Amari Cooper of Alabama and Melvin Gordon from Wisconsin, slightly disappointed.

The Badgers’ running back set a new FBS record for rushing yards in a single game with 408, leading his team to their biggest win of the season, walking all over the Cornhuskers, something of a tradition by now, 59-24.
