The face of the four teams going into the playoffs if the season ended now has changed following the results of week 12, as the College Football Playoff Committee kept Clemson and Alabama at number one and number two, only to be joined by one-loss Oklahoma (number three) and undefeated Iowa (number four) while the surging Michigan State and falling Notre Dame are left looking on the outside.

Despite being the only undefeated team in the nation, Florida State keep falling in committee rankings for the College Football Playoff, while TCU move up to number 3, sitting right behind Alabama (number one) and Oregon (number two), while Ohio State and Baylor are waiting for an opening.

For the second time, the College Football Playoff committee has released its rankings, which feature one significant change: Oregon of the Pac-12 breaking into the top 4, pushing out Alabama, while Mississippi State (number one), Florida State (number two) and Auburn (number three) are in front. As of now, there are two SEC West teams in the playoff.
