2017 NCAA Tournament Round 1, Day 1 Scores

The first day of the NCAA Tournament didn’t have a Cinderella feel to it. Both Villanova and Gonzaga won their matchups, while the lower seeds who did win, Xavier and Middle Tennessee, weren’t causing major shocks while doing so. Northwestern, playing their first ever Big Dance game, beat Vanderbilt and advanced to the round of 32.

2016 College Football Season: Week 4 Rankings Changes Predictions

Not everyone was active in week 4, but there was plenty of action to go around, from the easiness teams like Alabama, Louisville and Michigan enjoyed, contrasted with the big ranked vs ranked wins teams like Wisconsin, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Tennessee had, which should mean a lot of changes in the 20-5 area of the rankings, including LSU, Florida and Georgia probably dropped from the top 25, or at least taking a very heavy hit.

College Football: One Major & Illegal Upset, Favorites Struggle, Rankings to Shuffle

Week 2 of the college football season was supposed to simple: Only two real threats of upsetting ranked teams, and plenty of easy games for the rest. Teams like Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan made it look easy. Others, like Georgia and Clemson struggled with some very weak opponents, which could hurt them in the rankings. Others, like TCU and especially Oklahoma State, fell into the upset trap, which will probably move them from the polls, at least for one week.

2016 College Football Season: Upsets, Blowouts & Rankings Effect

An interesting (and too spread out) opening weekend to the 2016 season in college football, with LSU stunned by unranked Wisconsin, Houston doing the game to Oklahoma, while USC suffered one of the worst losses in school history, by making the mistake and agreeing to meet Alabama on neutral ground. Obviously, rankings are going to shift due to some of these results, although it is just week 1.

Wisconsin at the Buzzer, Notre Dame With a Tip, Texas A&M Simply Insane

In the closing day to a hectic first weekend in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, it was less about upsets and more about unbelievable finishes: The Wisconsin buzzer beater by Bronson Koenig against Xavier; the Notre Dame winning tip by Rex Pflueger and Texas A&M erasing a 12-point deficit against Northern Iowa with less than 44 seconds to go.
