Duke Over Gonzaga – Freshmen Keep Paving the Way

Everyone is against one-and-done’s at least on the outside, but no one minds when they take you into the Final Four, and Duke are riding the wave of freshman success, beating Gonzaga 66-52, led by Justise Winslow, Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones.

Cavaliers Beat 76ers – Not Very Encouraging

Ugly, bad, terrible game of basketball, resulting in the Cleveland Cavaliers almost losing at home to the Philadelphia 76ers. They won 87-86, led by a lukewarm LeBron James, but losing Kevin Love and Iman Shumpert to injuries is getting David Blatt thinking about starting to rest his players.

Michigan State Over Louisville – Seeding Doesn’t Mean Anything

In possibly the best game of the 2015 NCAA Tournament Michigan State beat Louisville 76-70 in overtime, carrying too much momentum into the final five minutes to be denied another trip into the Final Four, a 7th for head coach Tom Izzo.

NCAA Tournament – Teams of the Elite Eight

The ACC, with three teams (Duke, Louisville, Notre Dame) leads the conferences in Elite Eight representation, followed by the Big Ten (Michigan State, Wisconsin) with two. The SEC (with Kentucky), Pac-12 (Arizona) and WCC (Gonzaga) have just one team each left in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

Los Angeles Lakers – Jeremy Lin & Others Did Better Without Byron Scott

The return of Byron Scott to the sidelines didn’t help out Jeremy Lin or the Los Angeles Lakers, losing 94-83 to the Toronto Raptors and keeping their wins in recent games over tanking teams exclusively.

Golden State Warriors – Getting Rid of the Competition

The Golden State Warriors still haven’t clinched the top spot in the Western Conference, but with a 107-84 win over the Memphis Grizzlies they made sure no one is going to stand in their way.

NCAA Tournament – Sweet Sixteen Ends Without Upsets

The second and final day of Sweet Sixteen basketball ended up without any upsets as Duke, Gonzaga, Louisville and Michigan State advanced to the Elite Eight. The Spartans were the only lower seed to win, but them winning isn’t really a surprise.
