Whether you’ve already clicked the Wild Card button or not, finding cheap players to fill your Fantasy Premier League team is crucial. Here are our recommendations for gameweek 3 regarding players costing 5 million or less, as well as forwards under 6 million.

Goalkeepers

Rui Patricio

Rui Patricio (Wolves, 5 million): Patricio? Really? Yeah. Thanks to his penalty kick save against Manchester United, Patricio leads all GKs valued 5 million and under with 15 fantasy points. Wolves are playing the likes of Crystal Palace, Everton (struggling on offense so far), Chelsea (you don’t know what you’ll get) and Burnley next. A good reason to add Patricio to your team.

Mathew Ryan (Brighton, 4.5 million): The 27-year old keeper has 11 fantasy points thus far. The Seagulls are heading into a 4-match stretch that includes Southampton, Burnley and Newcastle. Yes, there’s also Man City in between there, but you don’t have to start the bloke. Ryan is owned by 15.8% of teams and that number might rise some more come Friday evening.

Defenders

John Lundstram

John Lundstram (Sheffield United, 4.1 million): With 17 fantasy points in the first two weeks and already owned by 14.7% of fantasy managers, Lundstram is one of the week’s hot potatoes. The Blades don’t have the easiest set of matches to go through. However with their system allowing defensive players to get good looks at goal, their defensive side is worth having on your fantasy team.

Lewis Dunk (Brighton, 4.6 million): Another fast riser this week, Dunk isn’t exactly a nobody to Fantasy enthusiasts. As always, Dunk shows promising potential to get good return from him in the next few weeks is solid.

Midfielders

Ndidi

Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester, 5 million): Leicester are considered somewhat of a fantasy disappointment to start the season. However, Ndidi, at his price, and the way he’s allowed to attack goal, is a solid option for a low low cost. He also scored vs Chelsea last weekend. The next two weeks include Sheffield United and Bournemouth, so more points from attacking forays wouldn’t be too surprising.

Todd Cantwell (Norwich, 4.6 million): The 21-year old’s two assists in the win over Newcastle put him on many people’s radars. He is currently owned by just 4.5% of teams. He can provide some nice differential in your mini-league. Upcoming matches include Chelsea (in Norwich) and away to West Ham. Both an obvious chance to earn some fantasy points.

Forwards

Chicharito

We made an exception with forwards. Their price threshold is at 6 million, considering the pickings at 5 and under are really slim to nonexistent.

Divock Origi (Liverpool, 5.6 million): On a normal day, Origi isn’t supposed to start for the European Champions in the front three. However, he has repaid Klopp for his faith in him. Klopp is likely to rest someone in the Salah-Mane-Firmino trio Occasionally. Having Origi on your team isn’t a bad idea.

Chicharito (West Ham, 6 million): Javier Hernandez was back on the pitch for the Hammers last week and provided a goal. West Ham have opponents (Watford, Norwich, Aston Villa, Manchester United) who aren’t expected to keep many clean sheets this season. This makes the Mexican poacher a solid option for the next few weeks on the cheap.
