49ers vs Seahakws – Clean, Old Fashioned Hate

Some teams simply don’t like each other very much, and the fact that they play each other two times a year (if not more, thanks to the playoffs), doesn’t really help patch things up. The San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks don’t have one specific event that turned this rivalry into something special. It’s a simple case of proximity, a rise to power at the same time and having figures who aren’t afraid of talking to the media.

Los Angeles Clippers – Surviving the Roller Coaster Ride

It’s hard to think of a more dramatic way to finish a game, as the Los Angeles Clippers come up with a 129-127 win after looking comfortably in the lead, then out of the game completely and on top again thanks to some crunch time defense and great shooting from J.J. Redick, giving his best game to date for his current team.

Los Angeles Lakers – It’s Getting Sad & Depressing
One of the only bright spots in this awful season for the Los Angeles Lakers has been the constant fast-paced offense this team is trying to run, and watching Nick Young do his thing, which doesn’t always work, but is always entertaining to watch. As they lost their sixth in a row (and 12th in 13), Swaggy P being ejected was a big part of another step backwards for the team and franchise, who are going through a stretch no one in Tinseltown even remembers.

Nuggets vs Warriors – Ty Lawson & Nate Robinson Better Than a Bunch of Shooters

In a game that was always going to be fast in pace and filled with points, in turns out that having Ty Lawson running things while Nate Robinson feeds on his revenge energies is a good combo to go to war with, as the Denver Nuggets beat the Golden State Warriors 123-116.

Houston Rockets – James Harden Can Do Things Jeremy Lin Can’t
When it does work for James Harden; that tendency to eliminate the options of passing to teammates, it makes him look like one of the best players in the NBA, even though that the team players its best basketball when Jeremy Lin is the one handling the ball and playing as the actual point guard.
-
Chicago Bulls – Jimmy Butler Doesn’t Get Tired

There was more than one unique thing to focus on during the 128-125 win by the Chicago Bulls against the Orlando Magic in triple overtime. Some of it was the clutch shooting by Mike Dunleavy, Glen Davis, Jameer Nelson and Tony Snell; however, Jimmy Butler playing 60 minutes defies logic and stands out more than anything else.
-
Miami Heat – Did Someone Say Crisis?

Despite the good vibe from the White House visit, Greg Oden getting his first points and LeBron James talking about his ability to score more points, something is off with the Miami Heat. They lost 114-97 to the Washington Wizards, their third straight loss, all coming on the road against Eastern Conference teams they shouldn’t be finding it this difficult to play against.

Wade Phillips Doesn’t Understand Why No One is Hiring Him

It’s been almost 40 years for Wade Phillips in the NFL, working his way up from position coach to a usually successful head coach. Despite his record with teams like the Buffalo Bills and the Dallas Cowboys or his reputation as an excellent defensive coordinator, there seems to be zero interest in his talents for the head coaching position this offseason, with most opening already being filled.

NFL Playoffs – Four Quarterbacks From Two Different Generations

Few will argue that the best teams in the NFL reached the “Final Four”, the conference championship games. It also offers an interesting take on old and new in the NFL, with Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson being a new breed of quarterbacks regarding their skill-set, while Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, representing the old guard, and relying on their arms and not their legs approach.

Minnesota Vikings – Mike Zimmer is Their New Head Coach

The Minnesota Vikings are the next team to fill their vacant head coach slot, naming Mike Zimmer, the defensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals, as the man to replace Leslie Frazier.
