NCAA Tournament – Tennessee Over Iowa, Cal Poly Over Texas Southern

We’re done with the first four, so the real NCAA Tournament can begin, even if it starts with the second round. The picture of 64 teams was complete as Tennessee beat Iowa in overtime 78-65, while Cal Poly had an excellent shooting performance to overcome Texas Southern, putting them in the bracket despite their losing record.

Aroldis Chapman Hit With a Line Drive in the Face
We’re still not into the 2014 MLB Season, but we’ve already got one major injury, as Arlodis Chapman of the Cincinnati Reds got hit in the face with a line drive by Salvador Perez. Chapman suffered fractures to bones in his nose and left eye and was taken to the hospital for testing and observation.

Cruz Azul Score the Best Team Goal of the Year

The trend in the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals was Mexican teams crushing their MLS rivals. Cruz Azul vs Kansas City was no different, ending in a 5-2 aggregate victory for the Mexican side, including a 5-1 win in the second leg, with a beautiful finishing goal from Christian Gimenez, which was probably the best team play we’ve seen from anyone this season.

The 8 Teams in the 2014 Champions League Quarterfinals

The final 8 of the Champoins League consists of three teams from Spain (Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid), two teams from England (Manchester United and Chelsea), two teams from Germany (Defending champions Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund) and one team from France, Paris Saint-Germain.

Match Highlights – Manchester United vs Olympiakos, Dortmund vs Zenit

In a match that meant everything to Manchester United, they came through big time, getting a hat trick from Robin van Persie as they beat Olympiakos 3-0 to erase the two goal deficit from the first match and find themselves in the quarterfinals. Dortmund lost 2-1 at home to Zenit, but it was still enough for them to make it into the last eight as well.

It’s a very different outlook on how to run sport leagues – the American and European one, with Europe mostly focusing on football (or soccer), while in the United States and North America in general the major sports league are founded on the same idea of parity (except baseball), salary cap limits and branding, at least in a certain way.

Portland Trail Blazers – Looking Nice While Stopping the Slide
Win or lose, the Portland Trail Blazers are a fun team to watch, and it’s a good thing to have them back in the playoffs, trying to succeed with the odds stacked against them because their playing style, especially when LaMarcus Aldridge isn’t playing, simply isn’t going to be good enough to make it far in the postseason. At least Damian Lillard, Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum make it worth watching.

It seems right now that it’s either going to be the Seattle Seahawks or the Dallas Cowboys that end up signing him, but things might change.
