Usain Bolt Disqualified, Jamaica Still Take Gold via Yohan Blake
A Jamaican won the Men’s 100 meter race, but not the one everyone thought, expected to bring home gold. Usain Bolt, the fastest man alive, the fastest man in history, who set the current World record of 9.58 two years ago in the previous World Championships began too early, and fell victim to the one strike you’re out rule. Fellow countryman Yohan Blake, with 9.92, took home the gold while the field and crowd were still stunned by the turn of events.

Luis Suarez Did Everything But Score (Liverpool vs Bolton)
Liverpool and Kenny Dalglish are getting there. Luis Suarez was brilliant, unstoppable. Everything Liverpool eventually managed to do, which was three goals and a very impressive display this evening at Anfield, happened through all of the mayhem Suarez created in that Bolton back four. A comfortable 3-1 win, which could have been much more resounding.

Squeezing Out Another Win (Chelsea vs Norwich)
Juan Manuel Mata scored on his Chelsea debut to make the long added time worthwhile, but Chelsea produces another disappointing match and display, getting the win mostly thanks to a penalty given to them in the 82nd minute, which Frank Lampard, as usual, struck with the usual success. Bottom line – 3-1 over a very weak Norwich side, but Chelsea look nothing like a title bound team.

A Grand Slam Record (A’s vs Yankees)
The Boston Red Sox might lead the AL East, might be topping most power raknings around the web, but after the New York Yankees became the first team in MLB history to hit three Grand Slam home runs in a single game, beating the Oakland Athletics 22-9, well, you gotta be a bit intimidated. And Alex Rodriguez is back, altought still in trouble with the league.

2011-2012 Champions League Group Stage Draw
The biggest and most popular club tournament in the world is all set. After the qualifying rounds are over, we got the real deal, or the closest thing to it. The 2011-2012 UEFA Champions League group stage begins on September 13, with Barcelona defending their title and hoping to be the first team since Milan in 1990 to repeat the title. The two are in the same group by the way.

At Least We’ll Have Some NBA’ish Basketball in Vegas
The NBA Lockout? Still going strong. NBA Players moving to Europe? Not a flood, but a constant drip. Kobe Bryant, Kevin Duant and others getting some extra attention while scoring incredible numbers in street ball leagues around the country? You got it. Talks between the owners and Union? Not really happening. The NBA cancelled its officail summer league back in July when it was clear the season wasn’t about to start on time. The Vegas Summer league, organized by Impact Academy, will be taking place.
