Transfer Rumors 2013 – Arsenal Will Sign Gonzalo Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain 2013

Before official words comes out regarding a done deal, it’s always hard to decipher what’s real and what is just rumor when it comes to summer transfers. Arsenal have been chasing Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid for quite a while, but it seems that their chase after the Argentine striker might be over.

While it isn’t something that is wise to boldly go upon, Sky has suspended all betting on the next club Gonzalo Higuain joins, which means that there’s something going on that some people know about (usually), and it might be that Arsenal have finally found the right price to get Real to agree upon.

Not everything involved with betting comes true – recently the betting on the next team for Kevin Strootman was also suspended, as it seemed the Dutchman will be joining Manchester United very shortly. We’re three weeks past that moment, and there still hasn’t been anything official from both PSV and Manchester United.

But this might be a little different. Higuain hasn’t been hiding his desire to leave Real Madrid after feeling like he was treated with enough respect there despite his impressive scoring record since joining the club from River Plate, not to mention being always mentioned as a potential transfer each summer for the last three years.

Juventus have also been in the race for  the player who scored 121 goals and provided 56 assists in his Real Madrid career, including 18 goals last season, but it seems that the price for him, somewhere between £22 million and £25 million, was too much for a Serie A team to compete with.

Once again, nothing’s official yet, but there’s a pretty decent chance that after a year of watching a very disappointing front line with the likes of Olivier Giroud and Gervinho, Arsenal have spent quite a lot of cash on a player in his prime with the ability to clearly upgrade their scoring situation right away.
